Paranoid about Doc appointments.!?.

I have an appointment on Wednesday. I don't know why I do this to myself but each time I'm so nervous when I go in. I'm scared when my doc uses the Doppler there won't be a heartbeat. I worry way too much. I'm 16 weeks. I feel movement every now and then but not very often. Anyone else paranoid like I am?. Or do you have ways to calm yourself down before appt?.

  • I freak out before my appointments too and that always makes my blood pressure high!! I just try to stay calm and take breaths which does help a little. I talk to myself and try to convince myself that everything will be fine at each appointment. I feel very nervous and paranoid too. I'm probably not being too helpful but just wanted to let you know that you're not alone in that feeling. :)

  • Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one. :)
  • I'm the same, I have my big scan in a week or so as I am freaking myself out, I was shaking at my first appointment I was so paranoid, I don't know why I'm so scared, I just try to pretend I'm not going to an appointment as put it to the back of my mind, though maybe that's not the best way to deal with it lol, I wish you all the best in you future appointment :)
  • I'm the same way! My next appt will be my first ultrasound (the last two were just dopplers) since 6 weeks so u can imagine how much I'm freaking out about this. I always expect the worst and hope for the best, so there are so many things running through my mind until I finally get to see my nugget.
  • I always freak out and this is my third baby. I have low blood pressure but when they take it at my baby appt it's never low because I am so worked up. After the ultrasound and you can feel the baby move frequently you will calm down just remember to enjoy this stage of pregnancy and every moment because worrying will not change anything.

^^^ Same for me, I am so worried I will just get more bad news like every other appointment I have had with this Dr. I will be 19w 3d at my next appointment and I am so worried she won't tell us the sex of the baby or something stupid like that.

I think it's just uncontrollable paranoia tbh. I wish I knew how to keep it under control. :/

I ordered a rental Doppler I'm just waiting to receive it. Seems like its taking forever !!.
  • Agree about having the home Doppler! Once I got mine, it felt like a ton of bricks was lifted. Makes the weeks in between the appointments so much easier! :)
  • My BP is always jacked up when I go in for my appts. I'm always a nervous wreck (having a loss in my previous pregnancy). DH always tries to calm me and tells me that it's all ok, but I'm always worried until I hear the heartbeat or see the baby.
I also have a doppler and it has really been a stress saver for me. Anytime I start getting lost in my head about how baby is doing, I can go take a quick listen to his heart and I'm reassured again. =D

  • I was like this with my son and even moreso with this one. A lot of mine stem from infertility fears that have never gone away.

With my son, I would freak out the night before and day of, but be fine right after. With this one, I've been freaking out for nearly three weeks about the anatomy scan next week.

  • i freak out constantly. it took us a lot longer than we were expecting to actually get pregnant, and in the beginning i had really horrifying miscarriage dreams that i would literally wake up shaking from. i think in the back of my mind i keep expecting to lose the baby, even though so far everything has been fine! i'm an anxious person in general but this has magnified it by about 1000.

i was on the fence about renting a doppler but hearing you guys saying that it saves you stress is pushing me toward getting it.
  • I am ALWAYS nervous before every appointment. Last week when I went in for my 16 week checkup I told the nurse that I knew my heart rate was going to be through the roof because I was so nervous (I had barely felt movement yet too). And sure enough, heart rate at 135! My doc came in and did a quick u/s and there was our little one happy as can be with a heart beat of 155. As soon as we did that my heart went back to normal and we could proceed with the appointment. I feel like until I can feel consistent movement (and I have an anterior placenta to boot!) I'll be nervous at each and every appointment.

  • I always freak out before each appointment because I don't know what to expect and I'm always prepping myself for bad news...I make myself crazy

I'm always nervous... I feel like it's totally normal though. I had an appointment today & it took the nurse what seemed like forever to find my baby's heartbeat. When she finally did I asked her what was going on & she said that it was her "old doppler." Maybe they should invest in a better one since they used them on every patient. Just keep your faith & know that things like that happen sometimes, try to stay calm. (:

Thanks ladies I think all mamas tend to worry about our little peanuts. Good luck to all of you.!
  • @LovelyMissLizzie‌ Your post made me laugh out loud! I work in an ultrasound lab and the struggle is REAL!! Our hand held Dopplers are ancient! I'm always apologizing to patients!
I get a little worried prior to appointments, too. The more I start showing and feeling pregnant, the less stressed I get thankfully!
  • I am 18 weeks, I'm going for an important appointment on Thursday and I feel terrified. Reading your post made me feel normal. Sometimes I think I feel movement but than I'm not sure. That also makes me nervous.
