I broke a piece off my tooth tonight while eating a starburst. So irritated. It's the same tooth I broke 8 years ago. Luckily I'm not in any pain. I'm calling tomorrow for a dental appointment. Anyone else have to have dental work while pregnant?
Yes I had to have antibiotics and have had to delay a dental implant that I was due to have and then found out I was pregnant one week after booking it in. So I have a temp crown and have to wear a plastic clear retainer 24/7, it really sucks. Am booked in 6 weeks after birth for the implant, fun! will you go ahead with dental work or delay until post birth? I delayed because of the men's I would have had to take ( neurogenic, mersyndol etc).
During my first pregnancy I not only broke, but shattered a tooth biting into a piece of fairly soft licorice. I'd never even had a cavity before! Ended up getting novicane injections and having the remaining shards removed. No other meds, or complications.
I lost a veneer while pregnant but it was just a lot of molds and glue, no drilling that required novacane (sp?).
Funny story. After my cs with dd, I bled so they had to put me under to fix it. They broke my front tooth with the breathing tube. I looked homeless when people came to visit. Combine that with the huge gash on my nose that I did with my nail while getting undressed. The nurses joked that they wouldn't let me leave with DH if they didn't see it all happen. I looked abused.

I had to have a crown placed due to a tooth breaking during my last pregnancy. I didn't have any pain. They consulted my OB before doing anything. The worst part was that i was in a lot of pain after and could only take Tylenol. I then got an infection as well, which made it worse. Overall, the process wasn't bad, just a lot of pain. Good luck.
I've had a cracked tooth fixed around 9 weeks. I talked to my doctor and the only precaution i was given was that i need to have plain Novocaine (with no epinephrine). The only different i found was that the plan Novocaine wears off faster than the kind with epinephrine. but since my dentist is aweomse, he just worked faster and got the crown done in an hour instead of the usual 90 mins.
I'm in the last stages of getting a crown put on because I had such a bad cavity. I was worried at first, but they used epinephrine free Novocaine that was approved by my midwife, and my little girl is healthy! Good luck to you!

Sorry but this made me laugh. At least you can tell your kids about how difficult labor was when they are being difficult.
I had an implant done the month before I got pregnant. Haven't been able to go back for any X-rays to confirm that it is okay. They're just taking my word for it. I'll have to go back for that fun visit after baby. I need several more crowns (high fever as a baby wrecked my enamel) but am looking forward to the Invisalign afterwards!
Luckily I just broke off the old filling. No X-rays needed. They replaced the filling and I will have to go back for a crown after delivery. Thank god it was something simple.
