Monday Randoms

And I'll kick it off...

I ordered lunch out for the first time in a long time at work today. Walked over, picked it up and came back only to find it was completely wrong. All of it. Usually it wouldn't be a big deal. I'd go back and have them fix it, but the wind is so bad today that I don't want to go back out in it. I don't want to eat this awful lunch and I just want to sit here and cry. Stupid hormones! And stupid lunch place!

Can you call them up and ask them to correct it and bring it to you since you're so close? Or atleast offer you a nice giftcard or something for the next time. :( That sucks, I feel your pain and totally hate when that happens especially when you're looking forward to it...what a disappointment!

  • My random is, I just got a phone call that my SIL just got taken by ambulance to the hospital and we aren't really sure what is going on.  To make it worse, she lives about an hour and a half away in Pittsburgh....DH, her and I are really close.  She just had surgery last week because she has been TTC for about 3/4 years now with no luck and they wanted to make sure her there were no ovary obstructions and her tubes were open, which they are.  They burned out some endometriosis though it wasn't very much at all.  DH works on the ambulance where we live, and is working until 7:00 tonight. All we want to do is go be out there with her, especially since she is always here for us when we need her...we're super worried, and I hope it isn't a complication from this surgery.  The medics thought it was a bowel obstruction....just hoping its not too serious.

ipumpkin - I so wish. They are in a place that is kind of like a food court and honestly I don't think they'd give two shits that my order was wrong unless I walked it back over to them to correct. I wanna be mad enough about it to take it back, but the 25 degree wind at 30 mph has defeated me today. =(

Edit: Didn't see your other post yet. I hope everything is ok with your SIL. I know you're worried sick. =(

  • It's a snow day where I'm living. I really hate the snow but when it cancels my day at work (teacher) I'm more than happy.

Also got to enjoy a Blimpies lunch with my dad. Boy oh boy was it amazing. (Although I still have a craving for pancakes!)
  • I know what you mean about the wind. It's  crazy up here too. And whipping around snow and sleet and rain on top of it. About blew me over when I got out of my SUV earlier....Stupid winter weather.

Thanks, I hope so too!! Just wanting some answers at this point!

  • ipumpkin - It's crazy! I was actually pushed backwards by the wind this morning! I was thankful that I wasn't wearing heels!

shakirahb - Noooo!! Blimpies is where I got my lunch today! hahaha! I'm glad yours was awesome! =D

  • I've just started trying to sew diaper covers. I'm new to sewing so I imagine it'll take me awhile to get the hang of it, but at least by doing it myself I can avoid diaper covers with little ducks on them.
  • shakirahb   I'm so jealous of you. I should have been a teacher, lol.  all I want is a snow day!
  • Just said the following to my husband, "You can give me a hot dog, not a hug!" I'm very crabby & I'm tired of being grumpy :( Tried cutting a mango for the first time today and I had no idea what I was doing. It's like half pit!

@GSUDavis‌ I'm sorry your lunch was wrong, that's a sure fire way to bring a pregnant lady's day down!

@ipumpkin‌ I hope your sister-in-law is okay, I'll pray for her & your family.
  • @ipumpkin hope your SIL is ok!

I'm having trouble staying focused at work today! I have so much to do in my personal and professional life before my LO arrives and my bouts of procrastination/ADHD aren't helping one bit. On another note...I have been craving shrimp so bad so my husband brought me a shrimp po'boy to work today! Yummers but now I just want a nap!

  • Snow day! Played in the yard...thinking about dinner...

    Stop counting crayons, just draw

  • I just had spicy chicken biggest from Wendy's with barbque sauce and it made my day.

  • I am the biggest nervous nelly about my anatomy scan tomorrow. I am worried about everything that could possibly be wrong. My DH and I decided with this pregnancy we did not want any testing done at all. So we don't know if baby could have any issues as of right now. Also I am 100% terrified baby is a boy. I know its awful, but I want another girl so bad.

@GSUdavis the wind here is ridiculous as well, I feel like my house is shaking at times. also I would go ballistic if my meal was wrong!

  • So I am seeing about this vaccinations debate on the news. What are your views on vaccinations for children? I never had an issue with them, and was vaccinated as a child myself. However, when my doctor did blood work at my first appointment she realized I supposedly wasn't immune to chickenpox (despite me getting a shot for it in 1995 according to my pediatrician's records). So now I am questioning, what did I get injected into me &/or how much do these vaccines work?

Tabbiekat13 - I have been told (by an RN) that the chickenpox immunization can "wear off" meaning the antibodies in your system probably aren't strong enough to fight off the virus...so I'm thinking you probably didn't get something else injected into you it's just been so long since you had it. I hope this eases your mind a bit :)>-
  • Thanks everyone for the prayers! She has a hernia and is in surgery now! She will have a 7 day stay at the hospital. Trying to figure out a way to get out there!
  • I have been fighting a cold that my toddler brought home from daycare for the last week. Then my husband decides to come home with a completely different cold( one was a sinus and one was in the chest). I now have 2 stupid colds raging war in my face, ears, chest, head and neck. He suggested I stay home today after he woke up at 3am and I still wasn't asleep. Bless that man for saying it. Sometimes you just need someone to affirm you feel as crappy as you do before you will let yourself have a sick day. The rest of the week is going to blow though. All 9-7's to reschedule all my missed appointments

Rant: I have seen so many double and triple topic postings that it is dizzying. Doesn't anyone read the guidelines/rules before posting?

Random: I had my teeth cleaned today. I told the hygienist that I am 35. She asked, "well was this pregnancy planned"? I was so taken aback that I had to ask her to repeat herself? WTH?!?! Any suggestions on how to respond to remarks like that without being too snarky?

  • @Coastiegirl35‌ you're telling me! I feel like all the posts can be broken down to the following:
    1. Here's something I could have googled, but didn't.
    2. My doctor says this is normal, but I want advice from you, internet stranger.
    3. My SO is a total loser. Should I let him back in my life?
    4. My in-laws are annoying.
    5. Even though we have a separate name board, what do you think of this awful/misspelled name?

Maybe I'm particularly cranky lately, but it has been driving me batty.
  • @mrsbeachcat‌ - you forgot
    6. I'm having a....(girl/boy)

I thought there was a post that had something to do with a velociraptor and gender on here somewhere!

If you're comfortable doing so, you could turn the question back to the other person. "Why do you ask?" They'll either realize it wasn't an appropriate question or, unfortunately, be so straight forward as to say something even more offensive. I feel like being direct is best but can be fairly awkward. "I'm not comfortable with you asking me that. (Change topic) Can you believe this weather we're having? I'm so glad I didn't have to cancel my appointment."
