Vaginal Varicose Veins

I was diagnosed with vaginal varicose veins by my doctor at the beginning of the third trimester. This is my first pregnancy and the pain has been so terrible. The doctor said there is not much I can do to relieve the pain until I deliver. I have been wearing a support belt which has helped during the day, but the pain is so bad when I sit, get up, or switch positions when I'm laying down in bed. I was just curious to see if anyone else is going through this and if they have tried anything that has helped with the pain. I appreciate your suggestions!

Re: Vaginal Varicose Veins

  • I'm sorry I have no experience with this! Sounds so terrible! Wishing you all the relief you can get!

  • I just developed the same problem, or realized that's what it was, and was told to try tucks medicated wipes/pads. There's also a lot of info on homeopathic remedies that work well for vaginal vericose veins (recommended by our birthing class doula) on the internetz. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm excited to know that it should all simmer down after delivery :) it can be quite uncomfortable down there!
  • Ugh. That sounds really painful. Sorry you're going through this
  • I live in South Africa and we can't get the V2 supporter band here at all!!! And can take up to 6 weeks to arrive (if ever) if I order or amazon! Really wish someone here stocked them!!! Seems this is a very unspoken of pregnancy symptom ;( it's really painful and really horrible! I feel for you :( but u are not alone I promise!
  • As much as I hate that some of you are going through, I am so happy that I am not alone! I did try Earth Mama Bottom Balm last night and it did provide some relief. I am going to try it out for the next week and see how much it helps. I've been recommended to Tucks too so I'm gonna give that a shot too. Thanks for the suggestions!
  • I have em too and you're right, no one wants to talk about them, lol! I mean seriously, not a fun thing at all. With my previous pregnancies they went away pretty quickly after birth so I'm hoping that happens for all of us! I think mine must not be as bad because they only really bother me if I have to squat down for something or have major pressure down there from coughing/sneezing or stupid Braxton Hicks.
Hope you ladies can find some relief because they are definitely not a fun pregnancy side effect.
  • Oh my here's another symptom I've never heard of. Who says pregnancy isn't a joyful experience. Hope you get some relief soon momma x
  • I have them too. They're quite ugly and the pressure is awful. Putting my feet up has been the only thing that has seemed to help.

  • I agree, they do get worse with subsequent pregnancies. So if you plan on having more babies, it would probably be a wise investment like PP said.
  • UGH! I have had them since around week 20 and they have gotten so much worse. Also my sciatic is now pinched so I can barely move. I have a back support and the V-2 I'm strapped up like a mummy but it helps a little. I'm watching the super bowl right now with two ice packs in my crotch. Helps a bit. I hear yoga helps but I'm too tired and sore to go haha I'm sorry you're going through this!! My first pregnancy was all rainbows and sunshine but this one…. This morning I lost it. It's a ton of pain!
  • And the Patriots scored and my husband just came running in wearing my V-2 supporter over his sweatpants and cheering. Good timing per this conversation haha
  • I have them, too. I use the Tuck's pads, but as a compress, not just as wipes. (I.e., I fold a couple up and wear them kind of like a pad) It has helped a lot! Also, a bag of frozen peas, putting my feet up, and some Tylenol. My OB assured me that they do go away after delivery, so that is good news!
