Coming out of lurkerdom temporarily to ask a question. I'm a FTM living in the Northeast where we get a lot of snow (basically winter storm Juno every other week). That being said, I am trying to find a stroller with all terrain wheels but I'm not too thrilled about the price creeping over $250. Does anyone know if I can buy a stroller with regular wheels that I like (durable, lightweight, etc.) for slightly less money and then buy all terrain wheels separately and change out the wheels? The idea would be that, even though I am making two separate purchases, the total would still be lower than a stroller that comes with all terrain wheels.
I've never heard of a stroller where you can change out the wheels. Jeep actually has a line of all terrain strollers that are reasonably priced. What about either of these?
Have you considered used? Bugaboo Frog is my first hand recommendation but I am sure there are others. I had the same question with my first and went this route for about $300 and have been so happy with it. The price on these has come down as others have gotten more trendy. If you live in a walkable area and use it a lot something like jeep stroller might not hold up for you. With the bugaboo you get two huge wheels on the back and can push it with those wheels forward with a quick flip of the bar. I find I can forge through snow that 4-5 inches deep easily and push over banks and small piles if needed. It's awesome. Craig's List is the best place to look.
@henrytviii I have considered buying used, so I'll be sure to check out what's for sale in my area, including Bugaboo. After reading the responses, I'm certainly willing to spend a little more than my original budget on a well recommended stroller because as @MW02120714 said, you get what you pay for. Thanks everyone! You've been very helpful.
You could look into the City Versa and buy the city mini GT wheels for it. The versa is discontinued but you can find it new for less than 250 or used on Craigslist.

I'm really glad to see this one. I've wanted a Frog for years but couldn't fork over a grand. Hubby surprised me at Christmas with a used Frog he got on eBay for under 200 it had all the bells and whistles and options. I'm happy to see you've had success with your used frog. I think frogs came down even more now because they don't make the actual frog anymore.
I'm wondering if the fabric options for others will fit the frog. I'd like to get new girly fabric.
I found this a few years ago but never ordered, seemed like too much of a splurge but now remember how often I had that stroller out I am tempted.
I also used the Bugaboo in the house all the time as a moving bassinet.
My DH loves to dumpster dive & alley hunt in our neighborhood and came home this fall with a 2nd complete Bugaboo Frog in Khaki. I'm not sure if I am proud or mortified but now I'm deciding if I want black or khaki, or perhaps I'll make a mix! We'll probably keep one in the house with clean wheels in bassinet mode and one outside for walks and errands. Spoiled but hey it was free.

Proud Mama to cleft cutie
Thanks for the tip about the foam filled wheels @MW02120714 I'll keep an eye out for strollers with that option.
@mamahawk12 I don't know how I missed those Jeep strollers in my search. I especially like the first one. Thank you!
