Moving frozen embroys to new clinic

Anyone transfer their frozen embroys between clinics? How much did it cost you and how did you do it? We're starting the process of moving our embroys from our old clinic in SC to our new clinic in OH. We're trying to decide which of the following would be best: Having them shipped to the new clinic Me flying down and flying back with the embroys but worried about getting them past TSA Being monitored up here and flying down for the FET but it would suck if it didn't take and would also require more than one night in hotel away from my DH and child.

Thanks ladies. That's what I'm leaning towards but I've just read some horror stories on the Internet regarding lost or damaged shipments etc.

Just just did this, although it was only from downtown Chicago to the burbs. It cost a little over 500 dollars, but that included a courier and a quarter years storage at the receiving lab.

I recently moved my embryos from Seattle to Boston. I used Cryoport. They were great and very responsive. They kept me informed of the process every step of the way. The cost was $450.

We still don't know how the embryos will thaw, but nothing happened on route to suggest that shipping them did any harm.

One thing to consider is that the best clinic to thaw embryos is the clinic that froze them since they all do it slightly differently. We could not afford to do FET back in Seattle, so shipping was our only option.

The old clinic shared the thaw protocol with new clinic. So they order the supplies they need and we are all set.

Thanks Amanda. Hopefully we can make a decision soon. Right now we're waiting to see if our embroys can even be sent to the new place since they require a blood test that the original center did not.

Yeah, we had to have all of the infectious disease blood test results from me and my husband sent over to the new clinic before they would accept the embryos. Luckily we had done all they wanted and it was still on file, so it was a matter of faxing it over. The new clinic would have probably let us do new blood work to show no infectious diseases and then let us ship. You could try to see if that is acceptable.

Our old clinic did not require the GC/CT/RPR tests to be done. My Obgyn did them during my pregnancy but the new clinic isn't sure if that's good enough as they wanted them done before the retrieval of the eggs and sperm.
