Random Saturday night thoughts

for some reason a lot of people I know are pregnant- at work and other close friends.... Must be that time. So there is a lot of talking about baby showers and diaper parties etc. I really don't like all the judgement and crap about throwing your own baby shower! I mean, what's the big deal? It's like having a birthday party. You invite the people who you care about and hopefully they care about you. You go through all the stress of prepping and decorating and making sure that everyone has a good time. Throw your own party if you want and you know what, throw one for your second and third child too because the miracle of life deserves to be celebrated! If your friends think it's tacky then they don't have to come or maybe they are not really your friends after all.
Rant over. Maybe I can go to sleep now... LO has been kicking like crazy the last 2 hours :/

  • Who cares what anyone has to say! Have a shower and celebrate your baby! Have cake, a candy bar, lol cupcakes too. And it doesn't matter who doesn't show up. The people who do are your support system and most likely they'll bring baby some gifts! That'll definitely help in the long run
  • Yeah I love the fact that we said nothing offensive or attacking and this StowerBaby character flips her lid. Again:

Oh and QFP for funsies. ;)
  • But why? I just don't understand the logistical reason behind throwing yourself a baby shower. Aside from the fact that it's universally agreed upon that throwing your own party is tacky, you don't gain anything. You might as well save your money throwing the thing and buy the items you will need. I mean, honestly, if your friends really "care about you", then they probably would have offered to throw you a shower.

Secondly, people do have socially accepted parties for second and third babies. They are called sip and sees. They allow people to meet your new addition and celebrate. But having a second baby shower when you already for welcomed into motherhood once, doesn't make sense.

Third and final, who throws themselves birthday parties? Is this a thing? Are people doing this?

  • This makes me think about that woman who married herself because she couldn't find a 'suitable husband'.
I'm sure everyone has someone who would want to shower their friend, relative, coworker, whatever; whether it be big or small. If not, I'd be more concerned about that then how it would look if I threw my own.
