12 weeks and showing?

I have a genuine bump but I'm only 12 weeks and it isnt small, twins runs in my family, every generation, but no one has had them in my generation yet, I went for a scan at 8 weeks and it showed only one but my tummy seems huge and doesn't appear to be bloating or gas and hasn't gone down and is only growing! Is it possible they could've missed one and I'm having twins?

ETA: Now that you've added a question... Is it possible? I mean...I guess anything is possible, however it's very unlikely. I'm sure they specifically check to make sure if there's more than one. If your concerned, ask at your next appointment.

it's unlikely they missed seeing twins at your 8 week scan. The techs are trained to look for multiples.

I'm having twins and at each ultrasound it has been very obvious. Is there a chance they missed twins at your scan? Sure, but it's not very likely.

It happens, each woman is different and their bodies adjust differently. With my first I barely showed until about 6 months, my son was about the same but this time around there is no denying it, I show, a little blump, a little bump owell. No worries if you're showing and who knows, there may be another one hiding but the possibility seems slim since the techs are trained to look for that.

Your baby is the size of a plum. Regardless of the possibility of multiples, it's very unlikely that you're showing.

Yes your uterus will have grown to the size of s softball and be protruding out over pubic region now a little- so cute. The rest could def be gas and bloating. I look 7 months after a big pasta meal

I am almost 10weeks and i look like 5 month pregnant. This is my second baby and believe Me i can't Hide my pregnancy Any more. Each women carry differently So enjoy What you having. By the way i am size 6 and had flat tummy a month ago.

My ultrasound tech is very good and she said that its actually easier to spot twins in the early stages, so it's unlikely that they'll miss it as long as you got an early ultrasound. This is my second, and I'm actually starting to show too. Its not enough for others to notice, but I'm super short and my entire abdomen is only like 6 inches long, so softball size is at least 1/4 the distance

This is my second and I'm definitely showing at 12 weeks. I'm small, only 5'2" 112 lbs. not bloated and I can't suck it in. It is very possible to show at 12 weeks. Your uterus is bigger and there's placenta and baby to account for.

It's very possible to show at 12. I am at 10 and have a small, but noticeable bump if I wear fitting clothes. I can't suck mine in either, lol. I thought it was early for that, but everyone is different!

Your uterus is going to be shoving everything around. So yeah, maybe the part sticking out isn't the baby but it's sticking out because there's a baby behind it.

Hey, don't listen to them. I am 12 weeks and my belly is big too, also getting hard... So don't worry if they say it's not the baby, every women body is different.

Every woman is different.... But anatomy and science stays the same.

Either way, it's very very doubtful they missed twins if you've had a scan.

Here's a fun biology fact about twins: it's not genetic. Well, not in the sense that everybody thinks. What IS genetic, is dropping more than one egg during ovulation - and can only come from your mother (a male cannot 'carry' this gene from his mother to a child. Also, this does not "skip" generations). Dropping two eggs during ovulation can obviously produce fraternal twins, if both are fertilized. (This is also why fraternal multiples are more likely for women going through IVF, since more than one egg are implanted). Identical twins are in no way genetic at all. It's completely random.

I'm 12w 3d with my first and I'm showing. Its not the baby but it's definitely uterus and all the rest, and i can't suck it in... Plus you'll find most pregnancy apps say 'you might start to notice you're finally showing' at 12 weeks...actually I'm pretty sure the bump app does! Show it off and keep glowing

Omg! I thought the same (that there were twins due them in my family) however there is definitely only one! This is my 3rd and I am showing at 12 weeks I look like Im 5months pregnant wasnt like this with the other 2 but apparently this can happen..

Also, her question wasn't "Am I showing?" It was "Could they have missed a second baby?"

So your answer is irrelevant on all accounts.

I don't know what being "small" has to do with it. I was small with my first and still didn't show until 20ish weeks.

I think 12 weeks is the earliest, if you're looking for it, but it depends on the person, of course. I'm almost 12 weeks and I can't see anything yet but I can feel something hard kind of nudging its way above my pubic bone. (If I probe around long enough)

It's really exciting! There's really a baby in there!

I have a friend who had twins and they didn't detect it until the second trimester (and she had U/S in the first trimester). But this is very unusual.

I feel like I look enormous, but my friends have assured me that I don't? Is it possible this is the same for you.

I am 11 weeks and definitely have somewhat of a bump. I don't know if it's bloat or baby/uterus, but it's there. I am tiny too 5'2'' 110 before the pregnancy. Not sure if being smaller has anything to do with it. Maybe I am farther along than they think. I get my first U/S on tuesday, so I guess I'll know then! Good luck to you!

I'm trying to figure out if I'm bloated or if it's the start of a bump. I'm 11 weeks and 4 days and in the morning my tummy seems flat and by the time I go to bed I've got a bump. Is it just bloat? It's soft and I can suck in
