I found a post but over 3 years old how do you pronounce...

We would like to name our baby girl mad-uh-lin... How would you spell it? I am disagreeing with my mom (who is a preschool teacher) on how to spell it. Just looking for some opinions. Tia!

    DD is Madeleine, pronounced -lynn.

    Anything other than "madelyn" I'd pronounce mad-uh-line so by default I went with the other :)

    Madeleine. It can be pronounced Mad-uh-Lynn or Mad-uh-line. It's the only correct spelling in my opinion. Madelyn looks like Made-Lyn and already super dated. Madeleine is timeless.

    I think spelling it "line" is just making it more complex than it needs to be.

    To me, line is line and Lyn is Lyn no matter if it's in a name or not.

    Madeleine. Madeline can be either -lyn or -line, but I prefer the -line pronunciation. Madelyn is just wrong.
