Hi Ladies,

Feel free to pass by this one if names don't interest you. However for those who like to click things, I would love some feedback. DH and I are trying to settle on a MN for baby girl. We plan on using the nn "Winnie". All of the MN options are family names.

DS is named Kellen John

Thanks in advance!

Re: XP on Baby Names Board: MN Opinions for Winifred

  • If I had to choose, I'd go with Winifred Elizabeth, but I don't really like any of your options paired with Winifred. I think it's just a hard name to pair with a middle name. It's very old-fashioned and a lot of your mn choices also sound dated making the name kind of heavy. Winnie is a very cute nn, but people aren't going to pair it with the mn.

I'm having trouble thinking of any alternatives at the moment, though.

  • I chose Winifred Kate.  I feel like the MN needs to be short, one syllable.  What about Ann or Anne?

  • I kind of like Winnie Lou as a nn.
  • But I like a lot of them...like Joy and Jane. What about June? Any family names you like?
  • I like Winifred/Winnie (very cute) but I'm not liking any of the middle names. They sound very... old.

  • Gah. I have a lot of the same sentiments, unfortunately my family is full of old lady names. My great grandma's maiden name was Munro. What do you think of Winifred Munro? Or is that too out there?

I think this sounds really classy and gives your child a really beautiful history to her name!

  • I kind of like Winnie Lou as a nn.

This doesn't at all scream "Winnie the Pooh".

OMG! It does! That is why I'm horrible at these things...I spend too much time with preschoolers!
  • I personally would give her the first name Winnie, but if it's a family name then I understand using Winifred :) Mae is a very sweet nickname also.
  • Thank you for your feedback everyone! We definitely have some mulling over to do. After much discussion over dinner tonight we may actually sub in Whitney for Winifred, but I'm really starting to like Munro. So while Whitney isn't a family name, we could still pay some hommage to our roots.

  • I really like Whitney or Winnie. I've never been too keen on Winifred though. Just my opinion. I do love your new MN choice though! Very cute.
