Pumping moms - how many oz do your LOs take per feeding?

How frequently does your LO eat?

According to kellymom, babies eat 19-30 oz/day, and one month old + babies stomachs can only contain 5 oz max (https://kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/pumping/milkcalc/)

I'm slightly concerned because my little girl is only satisfied after ~6 oz of milk per feeding and is only 5 weeks old.

Curious to compare with other hungry munchkins!

Re: Pumping moms - how many oz do your LOs take per feeding?

  • My son normally takes 4oz and 5 oz at night, I just recently started pumping a lot more preparing to go back to work!
  • My LO is 6 weeks and has been taking 3oz, he increased to 4oz for a couple days during a growth spurt and now the last two days he doesn't seem satisfied after the 3oz so I've been giving an extra ounce and he seems good. I give an extra ounce at night, sometimes two. He has days where he will sleep thru a feeding so if he loses a feeding I'll give a little more before bedtime. He also never spits up.

  • Mine has been taking between 4-6oz per feeding.
  • 4 weeks here & my baby does 3-3.5 oz every 2-3 hours.

  • Almost 9 weeks old & my LO now takes 4 oz. She was just doing 3 oz. Until last week, then she wanted more
  • 8wks - 4.5 oz per feed. Going through a growth spurt so that's nearly every two hours at the moment, can't wait for the spurt to end im wrecked!!
  • We only bottle feed him pumped milk at night but our 7 wk LO will take between 4-6 oz at night.
  • My LO is 8 weeks. Sometimes she will eat 4oz every 3 hours but often she will drink 6 oz. And on occasion she will even eat 8...usually after sleeping through the night. She usually averages about 28-32oz a day. I wouldn't be concerned. If a baby is hungry, he/she needs to eat. From what I've read it is extremely difficult to overfeed an infant. I think your LO's weight is really the factor that would determine if the amount he/she is eating is okay.
  • Our LO is 8 wks tomorrow and eats 6 oz every two hours like clockwork. Unless he sleeps longer than two hours, he rarely goes more than three hrs without a bottle, except at night. He was born 9 1/2 lbs and is now at 13 lbs 13 oz.
  • My seven week old need 5-6 oz. sometimes 7.

My 6.5 week old take 5 oz six times a day for a total of 30. We were only doing 4, but his weight gain slowed (within normal, just a little slow) so pedi had us up it to 5oz. At our appt on Tuesday, they said to try 6 oz in another week or so and as long as he doesn't refuse it, to stick with 6 because his weight gain was still slow-ish.

But reading other responses makes me really realize all babies are different!

ETA - my guy was born at 8lb 15oz and is not 10lb 11oz.
