Second Time Mums

This is my second pregnancy.
ATM I dont have a definate due date but its looking like im about 6 weeks along.
My fingers are already swelling, my breasts are killing me, im so exhausted, im constantly hungry, im peeing constantly & im having the craziest dreams.
The first symptom I had with my first pregnancy was sore breasts but nowhere near this sore. No other symptoms until 2nd trimester.
My question is; how are other 2nd time mums finding their pregnancy? Is this similar to yours? Am I crazy in thinking I could be alot further along?

Re: Second Time Mums

  • Second pregnancy for me too! I won't know how far along I am until my first ultrasound. This pregnancy was a surprise so I wasn't keeping track of my cycle and it has been very irregular for a year. But I will say this pregnancy is polar opposite of my first.

My first, I was throwing up day and night. I lost almost 10 lbs and grew a very noticeable blump all at the same time lol. My boobs only hurt for a few weeks, though. This time I am only nauseated if I get a little hungry. I'm hungry all the time. My boobs feel like they are going to fall off! They hurt so bad! I'm also way more bloated this time, but I think that's due to my insane appetite.

I'm with you, though. Not sure if I'm 6w or farther along. This pregnancy is so different than my last, it's like comparing apples and oranges.

  • Mine is totally different too!  I was so sick, exhausted and sore last time.  Just like PP this is a total surprise to us so I have to wait for our first US for a firm due date.  This time around I am not sick at all and have absoluetly no soreness.  I am wondering if my perspective has changed on being tired and sore?  My 15 month old DS can be a terrible sleeper at times and so I am wondering if I have just adjusted to feeling tired?  I only really feel it in the middle of the afternoon but then I seem to snap out of it.  I am hoping to continue feeling better this time but I am just waiting for the shoe to drop.  Good luck!
  • Its crazy. Im going to book my US for 2 weeks time, so ill be roughly 8 weeks and theyll be able to get a pretty good measurement.
Its like a new experience, like I've never been pregnant before lol. Driving me bonkers because I thought I would know what to expect.
  • To be honest mine seems to be the same so far. I never did have a lot of symptoms the first time.
  • This pregnancy is very similar to my first with the exception of the bloat! I'm so bloated this time I already look like I did when I was 16 weeks with my 1st (I'm 7 weeks today). The exhaustion, breast tenderness and nauseous feeling are all about the same so hubby is guess we're having another girl! :)
  • This pregnant is similar except I have this weird nauseous/hungry feeling that I don't remember with my son. It was more just food aversion with him. This time I feel a lot sicker. It's a really gross feeling. Aside from that, my boobs are extremely sore and I'm so tired, just like with #1.
  • This pregnancy is different than my first. The nausea started sooner but not as intense. The exhaustion started sooner, like a week before my missed period. I'm starving this time and didn't have an appetite last time.
  • Every pregnancy is different. I'm excited to see how this is different from my first. I'm only 5 weeks, so I expect symptoms to ramp up in the next few weeks.  I'm definitely more tired than last time.
  • New to the Sept group. I didn't have nearly the fatigue and nausea with my first. I am having trouble staying awake when sitting still. And eating has been harder this go round. Plus I am having the nausea ALL DAY LONG! Only affected me for a few weeks last time. But I am sure three years between pregnancy will allow for some forgetting.

  • With my first, I only took a test because I had a very vivid dream about a positive pregnancy test. I had no symptoms at first. The fatigue and slight cramping didn't kick in until I was about 8 weeks. The food aversion and cravings didn't come until 6 months. This time I had sore boobs, fatigue, hunger, and a little nausea before I found out I was pregnant. Compared to my first, this one is very similar, but I got symptoms earlier this round.
  • This one is different for me too. I have a 4 year old son and never experienced a day of nausea nor did I have any food aversions. I also had to have orange juice everyday as cold as possible! With this one I have felt nauseous everyday (and sometimes night) and have aversions to things that are really sweet!
  • This pregnancy so far is a lot different than my first. Symptoms all started sooner and are more intense like fatigue, nausea, and sore boobs. I don't even remember my boobs being sore at all the first time around! That was over eight years ago, though, so maybe some of it's age, who knows!
  • This pregnancy is completely the opposite for me.
    I feel awful.
I'm very blessed to be pregnant but hoping this all passes quickly
  • This is my second pregnancy. My son is 4 now and I didn't have any sickness, cravings, no major aches and pains... I'm 7-8 weeks and my boobs are so heavy and sore it hurts to wear a bra and it hurts not to wear one lol I'm sick all hours of the day and night, and tired all the time. I guess every pregnancy is different huh
  • The other day I said this one was easier (after HG the first round).... looks like I may be heading back to on the HG bandwagon... already dropped 2 lbs and can't keep anything down.  Trying to make it to next week's OB appt... sigh...

2nd time mom here, im 8 weeks and 5 days with my first i threw up for the first 4 months that was it i wasnt even nauseated all the time THIS time im constantly nauseated with no throwing up. My boops are bigger and always sore.. i want to cry all the time for happy things, sad things or for just anything really. i want Orange Juice at 5 am every morning! And sleep i can't get enough i want to sleeeeep all the time again with my first i had energy it was much easier... these little people are soooo worth every little bit of it though
  • This is my second as well.  My DD is 20 months old.  Breastfeeding while pregnant is not fun!  When my nipples started to hurt, I started to wonder if I was pregnant.  Though, I am blessed in that my m/s is not nearly as bad as it was with DD.  With her I was nausea 24/7 up until the 12th week.  With this one it comes and goes a few times a day.
  • This is my second, exactly 4 years later, and I'm having almost entirely different symptoms.

  • My symptoms are less prominent this go around, but similar. I wonder how much your symptoms change when you're pregnant with a different sex than your previous babe.
