Labor Stories

I'm a first time mom, 33 weeks along with my baby girl and I was hoping to have a natural vaginal birth. I have a wonderful support system, and in the room with me I'll have my husband, my mother and his mother. Does anyone care to share their birth stories?

    Are you looking for STM's who had previous natural births and would like to share those stories? Because I agree, not too many have had their babies just yet since we are still weeks away from our due dates.

    Definitely was looking for second time moms. I know most of us haven't given birth yet, it's not even February and these little ones are still cooking

    I don't have one yet..FTM :)
    But my sister just had her first son about six months ago. She was 41 weeks when she went into labor! Started at a birthing center with out epidural. She desperately wanted to have a water birth but 30 hours into labor the midwives took her to the hospital for the last two hours of labor! She gave birth to a healthy nine pounder at 32 hours :)

    @takerany‌ I know! He's just the sweetest thing too! I have been watching him since he was a newborn! So I'm so antsy to have my son in a few weeks! I plan on going all natural as well!

    I had my mother with me through the labour process but had her step out of the room when it was time to push as I wanted the first moments with our daughter to be just my husband and I with her... My mom came back in 10 minutes after she was born. By then I was all stitched up and we had spent a few moments as a new family. I personally would never have my mother in law in delivery with me. But it's all what you are comfortable with! GL :)

    @MyGirlAva‌ i can understand why you'd want the first few moments to yourself, and your husband. I was just talking to mine about it. I think as labor progresses I want them both in the room for the sake of their feelings honestly. I'm thinking too much about them maybe? But I know when I begin to push and ask for skin to skin so that I can breastfeed, we want a little privacy. How were you able to ask your mom to step out of the room?

    My first came at 33 weeks. My water broke at 32 and I was in the hospital on bedrest for a week. Labored throughout the night with back pains, and actively pushed for about 2 hours. Natural vaginal birth in a room full of neonatologists, NICU nurses, L&D nurses, doctors, etc. -my husband said about 11 people. I was allowed to look at her, and they whisked her off to the NICU. She was 4lbs 11 oz and 17 inches. Stayed in the NICU for a month.

    It's great to have a birth plan, but it's also good to be flexible. Sometimes circumstances are out of our control.

    I'm currently 33 weeks and 2 days, so I'm in uncharted territory! Hahaha!

    I was just honest with her from the start. She wanted to be in the room and I wanted her there for support as well but made it clear that she would be asked to step out briefly when the time came. I was fortunate enough that my labour progressed in such a way that we knew the push time had arrived, dd was crowning and I just said "ok mom, it's time to have this baby" and she stepped out! I know it was hard for her to be patient because the other nurses in the hallway told me afterward that she kept asking if she could go back in yet. Lol. She was excited and overly emotional when she returned finally! It's an amazing experience and one you will never forget. I wish you all the best :)

    ^i can add that I was induced at 36 weeks due to severe pre eclempsia and was lucky enough to not have any complications with dd or my condition afterwards. Except dd was a little jaundice. Induction started at 3:30pm may 7th 2013, laboured all night and had dd at 1:20pm may 8th. Epidural was given at 11:30 am the morning of her birth. Really helped me to relax and things went fast from that point onward.

    I did not end up having a natural birth the first time around, but I tried. It was just my husband and I, and honestly I did not want anyone else there but medical personnel. I had contractions coming in on top of contractions--no breaks between. I wasn't able to talk or open my eyes! So on one hand, it wouldn't have mattered if my mom was there because I was oblivious, but on the other hand I wouldn't have benefited from her being there either. It's your experience, not your mom's. Do what you want and what makes you comfortable.

    I have 5 more weeks with my second child.. After the baby is out and safe... U wont even remember the pain u just endured... Lol if that wS the case no one would have any kids...
