getting worried that I'm at the end of my 21 week and still haven't felt any movement. I am overweight, and that probably plays a part, but all the books and apps say I should be feeling him by now.
I wouldn't be worried at all, it can have a lot to do with the position of your placenta and position of your baby etc. I would for sure mention the fear to your doctor so they can give you some info that should make you feel at ease.
I'm no doctor but it's normal to feel it ar different times and yes weight does play a part in it. I am 23 wks and just starting feel decent kicks this past week. I also started out a bit overweight..
You are only 21 weeks and due in May? Just curious. Either way I wouldn't be too concerned since some women don't feel kicks till later anyways and it also depends on where the placenta is and your size. Extra padding from weight and the placenta will make it harder to feel kicks.
I agree with PP. You might be a candidate for the anterior placenta club. Check out that thread! You might feel better reading how common this is. Hopefully you'll be feeling kicks soon. Im 24 weeks and still only feel a few kicks a day.
I want to put in about the weight - I'm fatter than overweight and I felt movement at 17w so don't let anyone tell you it is size.
More likely, as others have said, it's position of placenta and baby. Get midwife to check everything though for peace of mind. No point worrying unnecessarily!
I feel kicks the entire day once I touch my tummy baby kicks begin until 15minutes later they stop n start on their own in a couple hours time. U should let ur doctor now ur concerned about baby kicks.
It took me forever to realize what I was feeling was the baby and not muscle spasms and gas. It was all very very very mild until around 23 weeks. Now (at nearly 25 weeks), he seems to be taking cross-fit classes in there...
I was waiting and waiting to feel this little guy kick. But I didn't really feel him move until about 22 weeks. Just recently (I'm 24 weeks) the movements are stronger. Hang in there... You should feel baby move very soon.
Have you had your anatomy scan appointment yet? If not, when you're there, they can let you know if you have an anterior or posterior placenta. That's when I found out I have anterior, and they said I likely wouldn't start to feel him for a few more weeks. At 23 weeks, I can start to feel him a bit.
Ignore what the apps and books say. I was reading things that said I should be feeling the baby kick at 16 weeks, and spent several weeks panicking about not feeling anything. I'm 23 weeks now, and really just within the last week or so I've noticed some definite kicks. The whole time my doctor told me I had absolutely nothing to worry about, so try not to stress! I think that all of the information out there as to when you should be feeling them is a bit misleading.

I am almost 24 weeks and also overweight. I have an anterior placenta so that plays a role in feeling movement. I didn't actually start to feel what I could confirm as movement until this week. In prior weeks, I was constantly worried. However, looking back, at times I would feel what most people describe as "flutters" or "goldfish swimming". I only know this now...I didn't know for certain at the time. As of this week my lil' guy moves but not all the time. The movement isn't intense, it feels like something is poking me from the inside. My husband still is not able to feel from the outside but I'm sure that will come with time. Some days I feel him throughout the day and other days I don't feel him at all. Hope this helps. I know how frustrating it can be for everyone to tell you you should feel something and you don't. I still worry.
