Pregnant after a Loss

Anyone had multiple Miscarriages or Chemical pregnancies before a full term?

I'm devastated. AF just won yesterday.
This is my second time losing my pregnancy.

1st was in Oct'14. All HPT were faint.
17 days after Ovulation, I started bleeding. I was cramping (not bad but because my period was always light and easy, the cramp felt bad to me). Passed some tissue.
This time I didn't get my blood test.

2nd: I felt the implantation pain. I was so happy.
Boobs were sore. Acne on hair line and chin. Always thirsty.
Faint + on DPO 11,
getting darker until dark line on DPO15 - 17.
DPO18 line was slightly weaker. DPO19 weaker and got my Beta taken on DPO15, hCG was only 57.
I was alarmed already, hoping it would go up.
But I started bleeding the next day :o(((

I've been browsing trying to find the answer. My period was always on time, never had bad PMS.
I never smoked or used drugs. i eat mostly organic. blabla
My OB is not proactive in terms of further testing because we haven't tried for a year (fuck that, I'm not waiting since I already had 2 MC, looking for another OB). Please tell me your story if you've had more than 1 MCs.
I'm 32, hubby is 40

What kind of test did you take after multiple miscarriages? How do I get the chromosomes tested?

Thank you, ladies!

Re: Anyone had multiple Miscarriages or Chemical pregnancies before a full term?

  • My history: missed m/c at 13w, DS, c/p, stillbirth at 24w, missed m/c at 9w... Than testing.

Most Drs do not do testing until 3 losses, some are more aggressive. My RE didn't count my c/p in my loss history (he said it much nicer than that).

If you do not feel comfortable with your OB id recommend changing, just be warned the new dr might not do testing yet either.

I'm sorry about your loss. GL!

    BFP #5 April 6, 2014; missed m/c May 15, 2014 @ 9 weeks; Misoprostol May 15, 2014; D&C May June 3, 2014

  • I've had three in total. One before my 2 1/2 year old and two after. I had testing done- both genetic (me and husband) and anatomy (mine) and they came up with nothing. They also tested my last loss after my D&C. I am now 34 weeks along with a baby boy. In the end there was no intervention by the doctors and I was told to basically try again and see what happens (in a very nice way- I really liked the specialists). I am 35.

Most doctors will tell you 3 losses in a row however my doctor was happy to agree. If you have recurrent losses and your doctor doesn't support you it may be time to look elsewhere.

I'm very sorry for your losses and wish you the best in the future.

  • I'm sorry about your losers I know how hard that is. I had 2 losses one at 10w and one at 8w last year. I remember being very frustrated and angry that my doc refused to be concerned until after 3 losses, so I switched to another doc. My new doc specializes in these type of issues and within a month of meeting with her I was pregnant and I'm currently 26w.
I suggest researching new OBs. Ask friends for references and try someone new.
    Good luck to you.
  • 2 losses in a row, both at 8 weeks. My doctor refused to do testing saying you have to have 3 losses. Screw that, I wasn't waiting around to have another loss. Went to 3 different doctors before finding a specialist who said would test me. Everything came back normal except for MTHFR which most doctors believe doesn't cause m/c. She said I could try to switch to folate, methyl versions of B12 & B6 and see how I do. I told her I read that many women with MTHFR have success while doing lovenox injections and she said we can do it as a precaution. I am now 18 weeks pregnant since finding this new doctor and changing a few things around. DONT GIVE UP!!!! You find your voice and someone who will listen to you!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm sorry for your losses. I have 2 m/c at 5 week and 6week, both with D&Cs. I don't believe you can complete testing on a chemical pregnancy. I've been with an RE for over a year. There's such a large list that they can complete its too much to type. With a D&Cs they can check for chromosomal defects. I suggest you take some to allow your body and heart to heal. I wish you lots of luck in 2015.

@petitepiedpiper‌, I swear I just felt like I was reading my own story. I've had 3 early MC's (about 4 weeks each, give or take). My OB refused to send me to a specialist when I asked him after the 2nd MC. At that point we had already been trying for 2 years, and I'm 29, don't smoke, rarely drink, and am overall very healthy. I was so pissed, but stupidly not proactive. After the 3rd MC, I sought after a specialist on my own and ditched my OB. They have done so much testing. Probably 40 tubes of blood by now (over a 2 months span), endometrial biopsy, HSG, genetic testing, etc. Pretty much everything has come back normal except that last month and this, my progesterone was a bit on the low side. I MC'd in December, so it's no surprise to me really that something is out of whack at the moment. My endometrial lining is also a bit inflamed, which they just discovered this week. So I'm on antibiotics for 15 days, then next cycle we are starting Letrozeole to help with ovulation, and on a certain cycle day, my hubs had to inject me with Ovidrel (only once) to help release eggs. Basically, I feel like there is no clear cut answer at the moment as to why I'm miscarrying. It's frustrating and disheartening. And on top of that, I have the worst acne. I've never had acne before, and since the 3rd loss, it's so, so awful. To the point where I don't want to go out into the world. It wakes me up because it itches and hurts all over. Thanks for adding insult to injury, body!!!

I am so sorry you're going through all of this too. I know it's so hard, but stay strong and talk about it with people. I know that's weird and I know not everyone may feel the same, but I find that talking about it to people really helps. It just opens up opportunities for people to say "omg I went through that!" Or "my sister went through that and has a baby now!" Just gives me hope, which I desperately need right now.

    Hugs!!
  • My story is a little weird. I'm new to the Bump so am still trying to find my way around here.

I've had three MC, 1st at weeks, second at 8 and the last right after I tested positive around 5 weeks. I had fertility problems for a few years and three failed IUIs, three were successful but I couldn't carry and lost them all. After my third loss I was pretty devastated and just felt done. We stopped trying and I focused on my career.

So fast forward two years after we gave up and we just discovered in November that I was expecting. I'm almost 20 weeks now and was pretty scared at first. I didn't want to go through another MC. We didn't even tell anyone for a long time because I was so sick of announcing and then telling everyone we lost the baby. So...we are finally happy and celebrating, we feel like we are over the bump so to speak. We find out the gender on Wednesday which is exciting.

I have to have my blood tested regularly but that's because I'm RH negative. My doc is pretty relaxed and hasn't ordered any tests due to my miscarriages.

I'm am really sorry you are living with this. It just flat out sucks. I wish you the best. Have you tried any fertility treatments? I'm sorry if you all ready answered this, like I said I'm still trying to find my way around here. Best wishes!
  • I am so sorry for your loss. I mc at 5w, 4w, 12w, and 10w. I am now 18w pregnant and my ob is very happy with how things are going. After my last d&c my ob sent me to have genetic testing done. After some time we tried again. I started prenatals immediately and after my first ob appointment my ob put me on progesterone suppositories from 7w-12w. I highly recommend that you continue to search for a new ob that you feel comfortable talking to and talk to them about your options. Dont lose faith!! Make sure you know all of your options.
