special edition update....

I'm not sure who was around and saw the original post about my friend.... but the condensed version is that we are sure a day apart, her water broke at 22 weeks and she's been in the hospital since. This past week baby "K" moved to a position that his cord was underneath him. This morning a day shy of 25 weeks, "A" went into labor and delivery him. Both mama and baby are doing well. He is 1 lb 10 oz, and 12" long! "K" continued to need all the players he can get, as well as his mama as they start this long journey of micro-preemiehood.

    T&p's to your friend. Are you in a position to help her out with house stuff or cooking? I know that's something that the mums at my work really appreciate. She'll probably be in hospital for a little while and her baby will be in there a couple of months, so frozen meals or things like that might ease her stress a little.

    My pastor's son was born weighing just over one pound...and is doing great 8 years later. I will believe and pray that the same will be true of baby K and mommy A.

    They are 2 hrs away right now, because our local hospital does not have a PICU. :( he will most likely be in the hospital until he reaches his gestational age! Her husband will be coming back and forth, but A will be staying with K until he comes home. They have a Ronald Mcdonald house right next to the hospital they are at. :)

    A great way to help is gift cards to local places or gas for dad. Tons of prayers. When I was preg with DD our earliest on the board was a 25 weeker. He was in the hospital for 6 months but fought like crazy and is 3 years old now. Prayers for K and mom and dad.

    T&Ps!! The Ronald McDonald house I stayed in when my DD was in the NICU was awesome! Hopefully the one she is at will be as well:) Also I echo PP that if anyone wants to help gift cards would be greatly appreciated I am sure because that Ronald McDonald house I stayed at provided a kitchen but you were responsible for for your own food. They had "family" dinner once a week which was nice! However for me I didn't buy food and cook there because I was pretty much at the hospital from the time they opened the NICU visiting hours until they kicked me out every night;) I would take breaks and eat in the cafeteria or the couple places to eat within walking distance when the doctors did their rounds. So Visa gift cards are great because she can buy essentials for herself and use it for food!
