Possibiliy of preeclampsia... update in op

So at my 36 week appt, my ob found a 1+ protein in my urine. He said nothing to worry about now. Well Tuesday, I went in for my 37 week appt. Again, he found 1+ protein in my urine. He said either a one time reading of 2+ or two 1+ findings in a row needs to be checked. My BP was also elevated. He gave me a collection container for a 24 hours urine protein screen. I was not sure of my BP at Tuesday's appt. I called and got the last 4 BP readings from my last 4 visits, (105/67, 100/64, 106/73, and 111/69 on Tuesday's visit) and I was shocked. I know "text book" my BP is normal, BUT, it's high for me. I usually run 90's/60's. 10-20 points higher than your normal baseline is considered elevated. I checked my BP at work yesterday and today. Readings were 113/53 and 113/58. They seem to keep going up.

I completed my 24 hour urine collection this morning. I have to take it to the lab today and hopefully get results tomorrow. I am just glad that I will be 38 weeks on Saturday and if they induce/bed rest, we will be ok.

I know this could have gone in the spam thread, but I was wondering if anyone else has been diagnosed with preeclampsia or is being screened for it?
I got my lab results today. I had some protein in my 24 hour urine, but not enough for a dx of pre-eclampsia. I am really happy about that. I did star having bloody show today, so hopefully the wait is close to an end! Thank you all for the support!

I just went through this and was induced last Friday had my baby at 2 am on Sunday. I know it is scary but trust your doctors. My LO was 38 weeks at birth and he is doing great. The only issue we have is a slight latching issue but in the grand scheme of things, that is nothing as he is feeding and not losing a ton of weight.
I will deff. Keep you in my prayers. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions or just want to vent. Again, trust your doctors, they will help you through it and if you are induced, the L&D nurses are beyond amazing.

Thank you so much. I am a little freaked out. I have also been a little lightheaded but brushed it off until yesterday. I will trust my Dr and do whatever he recommends. I know I'm in good hands, but like I said, it's scary.

Make sure to report that to your doctor. I had a headache for a week I didn't report and spots in my vision. It is important for them to know everything.

I am actually doing the 24-hour urine catch right now. So fun to bring a cooler into work and keep it in the bathroom. Fortunately I only share a bathroom with a few people so it' s not so bad. This is my second pregnancy and I did the same test, with no problems found, the first time. My blood pressure has jumped significantly. It was 170/80 when I got to my appointment and after lying on my left side for just a few minutes in dropped to 118/54. So far, no protein in my urine but we are doing the 24-hour catch to make sure. From what I have read, the small increase in your blood pressure may just be normal for the third trimester. My doctor indicated its when it takes a 20+ point jump like mine that they get concerned. Not sure if that's helpful, but good luck to you! The good part is we are far enough along in our pregnancy that if baby needs to come early they should be alright. Take care!

My doctor has been watching my blood pressure since October. They have done all the tests they can and everything has come back fine. They have had me going for NST every week since the end of December. Hope everything comes back great for you

Knottie52468216 When you say spots, do you mean like an eye floater? I have had an eye floater for about 1-2 months. I had one years ago and went to the eye dr for it. He said it was common and could go away on it's own, which it did. I recently got a floater in my left eye. It's constant and annoying, but I googled it when I first noticed it. Same info as before. When I called my dr office yesterday for the BP readings, spoke to a nurse. I told him what was going on with the eye and he just said "watch for blurry vision or vision loss". I am definitely telling him about my eye floater and being lightheaded. I'm trying to increase my water intake, I'm not too confident in that nurse I spoke to.

I had pre-e with both pregnancies, and luckily my water broke within 24 hours of being diagnosed each time. My bp was in the 140s over 90s though, with protein and swelling. Ds2 was born last week at 38 weeks, and other than being only 6 pounds and having some trouble latching, he's perfectly healthy.

Bp increase in the 3rd Tri can be normal because you have increased your blood volume by up to 50%. HA, sudden increase in swelling, and vision changes (don't worry about trying to interprete the changes just report the changes to your doctor s/he will interpret) are danger signs so if you experience them be sure to call your doctor (daytime) or L&D (after hours). T&P that everything works out for you. Try to relax (I know it's hard), put your feet up, get a massage if you can, avoid caffeine. the earlier this condition is caught the better the outcome for both mother and child.

For me I saw bright colored spots that went away after a few minutes. I would mention the floaters just incase the doctor thinks it would help. My blood pressure was also 140/90 when we started to watch me for pre-e. It jumped as high as 165/102 when I was having the spots in my vision.

I've had almost the same thing going on with me. I turned my 24 hour urine and had blood drawn Monday. I haven't heard back. I'm assuming no news is good news and trying not to worry. Best of luck to you hope it's nothing!

I'm high risk for pre-e due to low PAPP-A, but I try not to stress. I have had growth ultrasounds every four weeks (just found out at 37W he's 7lb- so much for low birth weight), and I'm at the doctors twice a week for over 2 months now. Every week I have a biophysical and an NST test. Hang in there best wishes, but your not alone in your situation!

I had a +1 protein in my urine test since week 35 and my blood pressure remained normal. My dr had me do a 24 h urine collection each week since and the amount of protein kept creeping up, but no other symptoms. Dr did not seem too worried,since everything else was normal. Finally this week (week 39) the protein levels went down! Good OP!

T&Ps being sent your way.

I know it's a little late, but I feel like adding my little story in. I have not been diagnosed with preeclampsia, but have had three 24 hour urine tests now and have had high blood pressure off and on since about 28/29 weeks. I was even hospitalized the day before yesterday because of my blood pressure being way too high. But, once again, not enough protein in my urine to signify preeclampsia. Neither preeclampsia or high blood pressure is good, but your doctor may do what mine did if it is just high blood pressure. I was discharged and put on a blood pressure medication until further notice.

Thank you all. No updates yet. I thinking Monday or Tuesday. I have m ob appt Tuesday. I called my dr today, but results weren't in yet and the clinic closed half day due to snow. I did get dx with the flu and I'm on tamiflu. Last nigh I thought I was dying, but at least I started the meds within the first 24 hrs. I am so ready to have her.

Every time I get my 2x weekly stress tests for the baby my bp is elevated and they think I have pre-eclampsia...the first time this happened I was at my OB office for a normal visit and he scared me by saying I had to go to L&D at the hospital and if my bp didn't lower and my tests didn't pass I would be delivering early...but luckily everything calmed down and my tests were ok and I was sent home...but every week since then I've had elevated BP at my stress tests which means more tests each time, but luckily I'm always sent home...to me its just part of my norm I guess...I only have 22days left to go, so I guess if my baby is coming early I'll just deal with it....

You are not alone. I have had a pretty healthy pregnancy until now. I have to submit my 24 hr urine tmrw and have my bp checked Friday. My doc said if bp is elevated Friday and protein is found in my urine again I will be induced.... I'm so ready to get the results it's driving me crazy. That and the fact I'm ready to meet my lIttle dude. I'm feeling really anxious. T&ps to you and all the other moms as well.
