I know several women who had a c-section for "big baby" and the kid was only 6-7 lb. The surgery was for NO REASON.
Measuring big can happen for many reasons, most of which are not worrisome. Ultrasounds this late are notoriously inaccurate and can be off by 2+ pounds! Also "big baby" is NOT a good reason to do a c-section. Your body will almost always grow a baby that you CAN birth vaginally, and the only way to know one way or the other is to TRY. Your doctor CAN NOT know what your body is capable of until labor. Period. No matter what they tell you. The pelvis softens and opens so much you cannot look at a woman and know what she is capable of. There is a reason the United States has one of the highest rates of c-section in the world -- our doctors do them unnecessarily. They aren't evil people, they are just trained to do them for reasons that aren't actually good reasons.
Being 17, and scared, it will be hard to put your foot down about this. And you may not want to -- that's ok, too. But if you read about it & decide that despite a "big baby" you want to labor and try to birth vaginally-- REFUSE a scheduled c-section. Also, you can refuse an induction -- those increase the risk of c-section. You are allowed to tell your doctor no.
Read this link -- it's really good info about your situation!!!

It can be done, resort to c-section if the baby is under distress during labor. Do what feels right for you, research and become knowledgeable in your options.
