anyone else confused by all the abbreviations?

I have been trying to read these posts, but it's almost  like reading a different language! Lol. And maybe it's because I am new at this pregnancy thing, or older than most of you (32)... I did figure out that MIL is mother in law, but what is DD and DH? What other abbreviations should I know?

Re: anyone else confused by all the abbreviations?

  • You are not alone! I am 29 and pregnant with my second and there are a ton I don't get.
  • Loading the player...
  • The link is under the Bump guidelines post also, also posted to the top of this page

  • What page is that on? I read the first post then most was about mucus plugs and making the thread a sticky on page one
  • Oh yeah, they really don't want you to post pics of your mucus plug!!! Inevitably, someone still will ;-) Check the bump guidelines post, it's right in the first post, like 4 bullet points down. DD and DH are dear/darling daughter and dear/darling husband.

  • That's really really gross. And a big thank you!
  • DO familiarize yourself with the Glossary of Terms [https://pregnant.thebump.com/extras/the-bump-community-extras/articles/community-glossary.aspx], which is full of community acronyms and lingo -- it's a great way to get a feel for a forum's culture.

  • This link doesn't work on my phone. Could this be a computer only or android only thing as I have an iphone and am not able to search threads either
  • The link didn't work on my tablet either. And i couldn't find the link on that page you mentioned either, just the main post about reading first before starting a new thread, join other threads to announce due date, etc. I also couldn't type any responses on my tablet.
  • I found the link under the bump guidelines thread, but that link is blank also.
  • Well dang it, I can't win tonight.

  • I looked through the first 5 pages of threads and some common ones I see for you to know are:
HDBD - Hump Day, Bump/Baby Day
    PgAL - Pregnant after loss
GTKY - Getting to know you
    XP - Cross posted
    FX - fingers crossed

Any others you're having trouble with?

Try this link. This was a blog started by some of the regulars, many of which I think have left.

  • This is amazing! Thanks to everyone for sharing the info and the cliff's notes version. Much appreciated. I had no idea what the abbreviations were either.

For some reason, ever since the guidelines changes occurred clicking on this link just leads to a blank screen for me. I've just been playing detective and trying to infer the meaning based on context for quite some time now...

    :-/
  • I hate all the abbreviations. Whenever I post or comment I just spell it out. I hate having to refer to the abbreviation link whenever I read a post.
  • I'm 23 and couldn't understand the mess. I had looked for a forum abbreviations post and didn't have any luck finding one I could open until now.
  • I am so glad you started this thread I've been trying to figure it all out based on context clues. I read about the link but could never find it lol
