My doc is afraid I'm having an ectopic pregnancy so I had an US at 5w 1d and at 6w 1d. Both times we saw the sack. It got bigger and thicker between the two, but still now baby or heart beat. Is that ok or should I be worried?
Between 6 weeks and 6w3 days... If your numbers are not rising appropriately they should keep monitoring with ultrasound and bloodwork. If you see the sac within the endometrium then that sac is not ectopic. That doesn't mean that you can't also have an ectopic (anywhere other than within the endometrium).
I just had a US at 6w2d and they were very surprised the see the heartbeat. I would try not to worry yet. I don't think they usually worry until around 7weeks

When do you go back? I had an ectopic last year and the sac never got bigger.
Most people don't normally get ultrasounds until 8 weeks. Has your pregnancy hormone hit 1,000 yet? My doctor won't schedule an ultrasound into then, no matter how many weeks pregnant you are. Good luck!
I just got an internal ultrasound at 6 weeks. She just saw the sac. I'm a little upset because I'd think you'd at least see something. I'm upset. I dunno what to think. I've been so emotional that I just burst out crying when I got home. I'm waiting for blood work results to come back from Monday but since we had that big snowstorm scare in NJ Tuesday it's delaying everything. I hate this waiting game. At least if the blood hcg levels come back good from Monday I'd feel a little better about today's ultrasound, but just feel like an emotional wreck.
Well spoke to Dr and the hcg levels from Monday did increase. He wants me back in tomorrow for more blood. He was a little weary that the tech didn't see anything yet in the sac. I'm pretty sure he's going to schedule another u/s.....ughhhhh how do you even stay level headed???? I'm just praying for everything to be ok.
Hi guys I've posted this in a few other spots but same thing happened to me. 6w was just the sac, 6w4d there was a baby and heartbeat . Sometimes it's just too early. Stay positive and relax, what's meant to be will be. Thoughts ur way!
I had to have an early ultrasound because of very bad pains in my stomach and at first all they could see was a pregnancy sack which looked empty but then they did an enteral and found the baby and I saw the baby's heart beating. I was put at 5 weeks 3 days. I seem to see this question a lot of people not seeing there baby this early but I don't think everyone is offered an internal which they should be x
6 weeks 2 days we seen a gestational sac slight heart beat 102 . the weeks were mesuare by sac . went the following week measured baby 6weeks 6 days and seen a lil peanut with heart beat.
The first Us baby a didn't have a heart beat but u seen the sac. 2nd time baby a had a heart beat. Sometimes our dates can be off just wait it out till ur next Us

I'm going through the same thing. I had my first us today and there was the sac with no baby. I thought I was 7 weeks but we're hoping I ovulated later. Going in next week for another ultrasound. They haven't done any blood work.
As far as staying level headed.... I'm having a hard time. Cried a lot today. Just praying and trying to think positively. *hugs*
It's not unusual at all to not see anything but the sac until into the 6th week and even longer if you ovulated late. Also, some offices have older machines that might not pick up the teeny tiny baby. I just had an internal u/s today at 8 weeks based on actual ovulation and the doctor had a hard time keeping baby on the screen. It disappeared after we saw it for a bit (felt like an eternity but it was probably 30 seconds), so I can see where a 6 week old baby could be really hard to see on some machines.
I hear you should be able to hear heartbeat by 6 weeks and see a little peanut by 8. My doc doesnt have me set up for an ultrasound until the end of February when I will be 12 weeks :-( I'm super disappointed, but I guess it's normal if nothing is wrong with me health-wise. Best wishes to you!!
This is why many doctors wait until 10-12 weeks for the first ultrasound. Between the chance of ovulating late and older machines so many times all it does is give unneeded stress to mom!
