I'll be 39 weeks Thursday and for the last two night I get bad upper back pain like right around my shoulder blades, it will lighten up from time to time but doesn't go completely away. It only seems to happen at night has any one else expirenced this?

Re: Upper back pain

  • Last night it did pass and I was fine for the whole day. It's just strange that it comes night time
  • Loading the player...
  • I have a lot of pain in my shoulders and it is also mainly at night. I know that mine comes from the strain of constantly having to sleep on my side. I'll be happy to sleep on my stomach again.
  • That would make sense as well. And I completely agree I miss sleeping on my stomach !!
  • I have this too, I'm thinking it's because my back muscles have to work extra hard to keep my posture, as the abs aren't really helping anymore... Does that even make sense?
  • I have the exact same problem....stretching and warm showers and baths help until the time is up :) hope it helps u too
  • I was having this...my midwife said it was probably muscular and told me to do stretches and take warm baths. Neither was helping. I went to a chiropractor who specializes in maternity. He told me after listening to my symptoms that it was a misaligned rib. He did an adjustment and the pain instantly went away.
  • I second seeing a chiropractor. I've had ribs out of place this whole pregnancy and every time I get an adjustment it's immediately better. Another tip is to take tennis ball, or even better 2 or 3 in a sock, and put it up against a wall and roll back and forth on it, that helps me until I can get in to see my chiropractor. Hope you get some relief soon!
  • I am dealing with the same pain you described. It is an odd sharp pain. Dr. told me to not worry and find relief with the use of pillows... Trying to work on this...
  • This make sense. I am having twins and one of them has been pushing in my rib cage for two weeks already. Not comfortable at all!!!
  • You can also get pain in your shoulders from gas in your digestive system. Hurts like hell.
