Pregnant and in College advice!

Hi! I'm 26 and barely 14 weeks pregnant.I just want some reassuring advice from anyone who has been pregnant and been in college. I don't know if pregnancy will hinder me in anyway since this is my first. I'm only taking 12 hours. Physics, Precalculus, and Geology: Energy Resources. I am excited for my baby to be learning with me at the same time, but also worried about the whole semester ahead of me. Especially since I will hit third trimester right around finals.

I have a full time job and am doing graduate classes at night. My motivation is is rather do it now than take time away from my lo when they need me

We're in the same boat: 26 and 15wks preg. I'm nervous about everyone staring, or worse, getting too friendly and trying to touch my belly. I think everything will work out though. I figure I'll push through 12 credit hrs then take the summer/fall off to bond and get into a schedule with the baby. Good luck!

I'm 26 and 17 weeks pregnant. I'm taking 13 credits this semester and hoping to take 12 in the fall. I'm nervous that I won't want to go back in the fall since that will mean leaving the baby. I'm trying to tell myself I'm bettering myself for our child so I have to go back. However I am debating taking the fall off and starting back next spring. I sometimes feel out of place because most of my classmates are barely 20 and not exactly starting families. I hope it works out for you. Good luck!

I had my DS at 21 and I was in my last semester at a small,private, Lutheran college in rural MN. Like you, I felt out of place since I was married. Luckily for me, I planned my 3rd tri so I could take off-campus full time study and I was able to live at home. The sad part was leaving my 1mos old and moving back to campus, pumping in between classes, and driving back home on weekends during the winter w frozen breast milk lol. All I could think about was how long those 6 mos felt at the time but I knew I was doing it for all of us. I had to push through. I was taking 300level biology, organic Chemistry II, and other humanities courses for graduation. The funny part was when students would go by my dorm room, they'd hear me singing nursery rhymes as mr DH and I made it a routine to skype at the end of the day. It was nice and emotional

Anyhow, stay strong and use whatever resources available to make it work. It won't be easy but it's doable.

I'm 27 and finishing up my last 2 classes in March. I am thrilled because my motivation level is about 0. I'm usually so tired by the time I get home from work and put the kids to bed that I am dreading anymore work however I push through and do it. I'd say do it as long as you can!

I'm 15 weeks and starting my next semester in a week. I am not scared of it being hard because the baby is not here yet. Just think, you are doing this to better the life of your baby! That is enough encouragement for me in itself. You can do it little lady, I'm only 21 & a single momma. I know you can do it

I'm 14 weeks, going half time, taking Micro Biology! I figure even being tired at least I won't miss classes because of giving birth and luckily I don't have to take anymore classes until next spring (starting clinical classes). I also work full time. You can do it!!

I'm 17 weeks, work full time and attend college for 16hrs at the weekends studying for the bar. I'll be 34 weeks taking the bar exams and it scares me a bit but my main motivation is getting it done before LO arrives so I can enjoy baby and not worry about sitting the bar in August with a newborn!

Its hard, but it can be done. I work 30 Hrs a week, go to school with a full load online, and have two kids and am 15 weeks with my third. You need to let some things go, like chores, lol, and let SO help you is the only way u can do it.

Just make sure you take the time to get yor rest so you can focus on your studying. I'm 32, 16 weeks + 2 days, work full time as an LPN and going to school fulltime at night for my RN. 10 weeks left! It's hard, but easier now than with the baby already here. I will be cutting my work hours to part time for the next 10'weeks because I'm exhausted and just want to finish strong. We purposely planned this pregnancy to be no earlier than this so I wouldn't have to take a break and could finish before baby comes. Don't stop, finish that degree! Use that baby as your motivation! Just take breaks, eat right, and rest! You'll be one tough mother when it's all over!

I am 31...I am a full time student taking 22 credit hours. I am 14 weeks pregnant and I work part time. Is it hard, hell yea but I planned this baby and its better for me to have it in school then when I graduate. I have pregnancy brain so it makes learning A LOT harder. I take coconut supplements to help. I sleep whenever I can and focus my time so I can be the most effective.

I would love to take the fall semester off but its just not an option for me. I will have 4 weeks home with the baby before I have to finish my last year. I know im leaving the baby in good hands sooo it has to give me peace of mind.

Yall will be fine. It is when ur tested that u realize how much you can do. Let ppl help u. My school is small so everyone knows im pregnant and everyone goes out of there way to help.

I finished my BA while pregnant and with a newborn- though I took online classes at the end. It's doable! I graduated when my LO was 6 mos old. I'm taking part time class for something else now. I can assure you that its much easier to get studying/homework done while pregnant or with a baby who will stay in a bouncer/chair/crib than it is when you have a toddler or older child! Good luck!

To echo what everyone said... You have responsibilities, but most women who are pregnant do! Unless someone is a SAHM (which is not to be discounted as a difficult job), we are working full time to support ourselves and family. When I was in college I was way too irresponsible to be a mom. The fact that you are mature enough to hold down a pregnancy means you've got this. Life is only going to get harder as you get older, so take it one day at a time and be proud of your accomplishments!

I am 30 and currently take 12 credits. I am 18weeks and commute am hour and a half one way to get to campus. It is difficult but it has to be done so that is what I am doing. I will not go back for the first fall semester so I can be with my baby. I want nothing more to finish but being with my baby those first few months is more important to me.

I went to college full time up until the day I had my last... I had my last final
On a Monday and she came on Tuesday lol... College during pregnancy wasn't hard for me. I think it is a lot more difficult to go to college when having a newborn... It's still do able though. Just make sure you have some help!

Though I'm not in college, I am in graduate school - 25years old, 16 weeks pregnant and after this year I will still have 3 years to go before I receive my doctorate. The way I see it is before I got pregnant (and let's be honest...even now) I decompress after classes by watching a little Netflix - taking the occasional nap - and making time for friends. Now that a baby is on the way, me and DH are just going to repurpose that personal "self care" time towards the baby.

And being honest, all of my female professors finished school with a baby and they said it's actually easier to do it with a baby than older kids because they sleep more, they're surprisingly calmer and less maintenance (because you get into a rhythm with one another), and they don't have a list of prior obligations that you are in charge of taking them to. So now is probably one of the best times to conquer those dreams and get them done, so that you can pursue what you love while providing a stronger future for your family.

At least that's what I tell myself at night haha.

Thanks so much everyone! Your opinions help me feel at ease and guide me to do what is best. I believe I can definately make through to finishing my bachelors and in 2 years I can head for graduate school! I will definitely take everyone of your advice into mind and make sure to stay strong through it all.

I'm 26, 17 weeks, have 5 and 7 year old boys, and taking 15 hours this semester. I'd say the hardest part for me is not being able to stay up late like I'm used to, and the memory issue (I always get pregnancy brain so bad!). A friend of mine had all 3 of her kids while in college and was able to get her degree with a 3.7 gpa

AND she had a full time job! It's definitely possible

It just takes a lot of dedication.

I'm 22, 16 weeks 4 days pregnant. Going back to school in march and super excited (I didn't take the fall semester because it didn't work out with my job schedule). I work 30+ hours a week and take 1 night class twice a week during the semester. Scared about being at the end of 2nd and most of the 3rd trimesters in class and lab (taking bio&lab) but gotta push through this. The more you gonna push school off the longer you will have to be there later on. I'm still debating about the fall semester not sure if I want to be away from the baby extra 8 hours a week but we shall see. Goodluck

I'm 20 and 18 weeks along. Thank goodness my college/degree offers a lot of online options, so it will definitely be easier than going to school and finding a babysitter. But I also want to return to work, part time at a bank, but I'm not so much scared of leaving the baby but making sure it's in good hands, preferably a family member or friend!

This is my second baby. DS will be 3 in april. I am almost 17 weeks (friday) I work full time mon-fri and take night and online classes (14 credit hours) it is SO difficult sometimes but keep in mind that it is worth it in the long run. It is all about your future! Good luck to all of us that are choosing to do this especially at this time. I think we are all pretty awesome
