Sinus infection what to do?

I woke up with a sinus infection, cough , cold and head aches. I took Tylenol extra strength & it helps for a few hours but obviously it wares off. Any suggestions of what else I can do because I don't want to be taking so many pills.

  • Thank you!
  • I thought I had a sinus infection over Christmas and my doctor gave me some nasal spray. He said that with pregnancy that your passage gets irritated easier or something. I went through a nasty flu and could only take Tylenol it was a nightmare. High fever and cough. It was a bug going around
  • I had a sinus infection at 11 weeks. my doctor wouldnt let me take anything. I thought I was going to die. Two weeks of torture!!! It went away eventually.

  • Amoxicillian worked magic for me!
  • Thanks ladies! I called my doctor and said to take Sudafed
  • You could try some saline nose spray too. It's ultimately salt water so it's not harmful to you or the baby and you can use it as much as you need.
  • My OB squeezed me in when I had one and prescribed me a zpac
  • If you're past the first trimester then Sudafed and Mucinex are ok. I took extra vitamin c and drank lots of orange juice and mine went away faster than usual.
  • I'm going through a nasty cold right now but I don't think it's turned into a sinus infection yet. The sinus pressure is the worst I've ever had! My doctor said it was ok to take Sudafed after the first trimester, and also had it cleared by the pharmacists at the drug store. But it's not the kind with pseudophedryn, which works better. But better than nothing. I've been taking that in conjunction with tylenol for the sinus pain. Hate taking so many meds but this cold is no joke.
  • No sudafed or phenilphrene! The only safe remedy is to do sinus rinse with salt water or netti pot or use saline spray. U can use a corticosteroid safely like nasocort which is now over the counter as this will only affect the sinus and won't absorb into the bloodstream. Tylenol for headache and rest! U can also use an antihistamine to help reduce swelling in the sinus. If u use warm sinus rinse in combo with the antihistamine and a corticosteroid u can possibly rinse the infection out without having to use possibly harmful meds. It worked for me in just 3 days after a terrible sinus infection last week! Good look!
