Scan tomorrow to check for ectopic pregnancy Update in Post

I've had some cramping on one side. No spotting or bleeding. The cramping has mostly disappeared but has the odd spasm.

My Dr. says he doesn't really think it's an ectopic pregnancy but he wants to rule it out.

So I'm not afraid to say I'm super nervous.

I will be 5 weeks 6 days so there probably won't be too much to see anyway, but am hoping everything looks good.

ETA update:
Hi ladies, thanks for all your well wishes.

Had the scan and there was a sac visible in the uterus (so right where it should be!). It was measuring 5 weeks 0 days, and they could only see the sac nothing else.

According to my dates I'm 5 weeks 5 days, so a little bit out, but nothing to be overly concerned about as yet. They suggested I come back next week to do another scan to check for a heartbeat, but I'm not sure I'll do that.

I really want to do a scan between 8-9 weeks because that's when the last baby stopped developing, but I don't want to go crazy doing extra scans just to soothe my anxiety, so doing a scan next week and then another one a couple of weeks later plus the standard 12 weeks one which we'll do, seems like overkill.

Anyway thanks again for your well wishes. At least I can breathe a sigh of relief over the ectopic thing.

    Good luck tomorrow @KateLouise.  I had twinges on my lower right side from about ovulation till 7 weeks.  I thought it was a cyst, but turned out to be nothing.  I hope it's all OK in your case too.

    Was the cramping very intense? If not then hopefully it's nothing. I also had pain on one side for quite a while for no good reason... It's great that they will see you soon! Praying for good news!

    I have cramping on my left side, sometimes it's a pulling feeling. I am 5 weeks now, RE told me it's growing pains. I also have a cyst on my left ovary so I wonder if I feel that side because of the sensitivity of the cyst.

    Yep, me too.  I'm 27 weeks now but early on through about 8 or 9 weeks I had tons of cramps and was worried about ectopic but all was well.  I suspect I had a cyst or the corpus luteum was collapsing or something similar...I bet it's the same for you.  Good luck!

    FX for you - hoping for the best! I had cramping too -- until about 8 weeks, I was worried, but I also kind of liked feeling something every day, b/c I knew something was going on in there. When the cramps stopped I got worried, but then went on to feeling crappy some other way.

    BFP: 10/07/2013; MC 10/15/2013 @ 7 wks (natural), focused on health issues for 7 months.

    I had horrible cramping my first few weeks, it eased up around 7 weeks.  I hope this is the case for you too.  Good luck, I wish the very best outcome for you.

    I too has a cyst on an ovary that was causing a lot of soreness, especially when I twisted towards that side. It didn't go away until almost 8 weeks. Good luck tomorrow!

    Me: 38. Diagnosed PCOs 09, took 'em long enough. Low Thyroid 13.
    SO: 41. Diabetic. We are not married yet in the legal sense. 
    Together since Feb 09. TTC since Jan 11.
    6 Clomid cycles. Mostly BFN one BFP but chemical Aug 12.
    IUI #1-3 Menopur and Ovidrel BFN. 
    IUI #4 Gonal-F and Ovidrel BFN.
    IUI #5 Gonal-F and Ovidrel BFP 9/15 
    Maternit21 all clear and a boy!

    Fingers crossed for you, I bet it will be nothing but I guess better safe than sorry. I've always experienced cramping, sometimes like a stabbing pain but I think as long as its not persistant it's usually considered normal.

    i always have really bad pains on my sides starting very very early on.  Each pregnancy its gotton worse.  It hurts more and lasts longer too. Its ligament pain...although more than once I have swore it was probably an etopic.  It just hurt too much to seem normal!  I am hopeful yours is the same

    i would do the next scan in a week because otherwise it will drive you crazy!  Or it would me!  Then maybe you will have enough symptoms after that to help dispell your fears a bit and let you know all is well so you can skip the 8 week one and wait to the 12?  Just a thought .  Glad you can check "etopic" off your list though!!

    Well as it happens my Dr rang last night and wants me to do a scan in 10 days. Just because he's thorough, but that should put me well into 7 weeks, and should be clear.

    Which I guess is in between doing it next week, and waiting for 8 weeks.
