June 2015 Moms

placement of my placenta

I had an u/s done and we found out my placenta is placed right i the front of my belly. Making it hard to feel the baby kick. Also makes it hard to find the babys heartbeat. Anyone else have this problem! !!!????

  • I had an anterior placenta with my first pregnancy. No biggie.

  • Same here...anterior placenta, and partial previa currently.
  • Anterior placenta here too!
  • Anterior here too. Coming as a mom with #4 on the way I'm actually really happy for it. I love my baby kicks, but that placenta sure gives me a lot of protection from the hard kicks by the end of the pregnancy. So while it seems bummer around 20 weeks not feeling a ton, I'm grateful when at 38 weeks it could be a lot worse. I've had anterior and posterior and I like anterior. ;) still feel baby, but not quite as painful in the end.
  • And hard to find heart beat means more likely to get a quick ultrasound peek. Another bonus. ;)
  • I have an anterior placenta as well. :)

  • @sharice111‌ I never thought of it that way (that it will be nice not to feel such strong kicks later). Makes me feel less grumpy about not having felt anything yet, thanks!
  • Anterior placenta here, too. Doc has a hard time finding heartbeat, as well. I just starting really feeling LO this past week. I assume it will be about a month before DH can feel from the outside.
  • I've had an anterior placenta in all of my pregnancies. I wouldn't worry :)
  • I have an anterior placenta and it's not a problem!

  • Anterior placenta (for the 2nd time) here.  I had an AP with DS1 and didn't feel anything until 21w.  I'm 18w6d now and didn't feel anything until very late at night a few days ago (at 18w3d).

  • Same here! At 21 (almost 22) weeks, I can now feel her kicks fairly often, and DH has twice. Shouldn't be too long for you, with any luck!

  • Anterior placenta here!! No problems finding the heartbeat!
  • Anterior placenta here... wasn't surprised at all when they told me today.  I haven't felt a ton of movement yet and I'm almost 22 weeks.

  • Anterior placenta here as well. I'm 20 wks 3 days and might actually be feeling my first flutters! This is our first so we don't know any different. Very excited for the day my husband gets to feel movement!
  • My placenta is partially fundal/partially anterior. I'm not sure how much this has affected my feelings of movement, I've been feeling him for a couple of weeks now, but more in the past week or so movement has become more pronounced and more frequent (I'm 21 weeks + 5 days). I don't know where my placenta was with my first--so I can't compare the difference if any. Either way, it doesn't cause any problems or issues, so unless your doctor is concerned I wouldn't worry about it for a second.
  • my placenta is anterior and at 22weeks 1day (due June 1st) i barely feel any kicks or movements. i have no issue finding a heartbeat, but am just concerned its gonna cause problems later on. i know you all seem pretty confident that all is okay, but are there any complications that could occur at all? xx
  • @SophiePlum‌ It's not like one placement is normal and one isn't. It's just where it is (it has to be somewhere)! If the placenta is covering the cervix, that can cause problems for a vaginal delivery, but anterior placenta does not mean it's over the cervix (that's placenta previa).
And for serious, if you are worried about it, why would you not ask your doctor?
  • I've had an anterior placenta all 3 of my pregnancies. No worries. I'm 21w3d and have been feeling movement for a couple weeks, but really strong movement today. :)

  • My placenta is sitting on my cervix. Doctor stated no intercourse and watch out for any bleeding. Good times. If it doesn't correct itself (21wks) I have to get a c-section. But there is till plenty of time. Oh pregnancy.
  • @DaveandKim08‌ I had the same thing. No strenuous activities (or sex) corrected the issue for me. Keep optimistic! My MIL had this when pregnant/delivering my DH. But back then, they really didnt/couldn't screen for it. Almost had a tragic outcome. Thank God for modern medicine. You'll be well taken care of!
