This is a weekly thread for runners who were due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. We had this thread during pregnancy, now it's time to lose that baby weight.

  • How were your runs and workouts this week? Still struggling to fit in that long run. I got to the gym 4 times and did one 4-mile run during the week but I had a 6-miler on the schedule for Sunday that didn't happen as we were returning from being away in the mountains for the weekend and I ended up going to the gym to make up my missed Saturday workout instead. I am starting to worry I just won't be able to train properly for the 15K in April. I am happy with the progress I'm seeing in my body with lifting weights more and running less, so I need to decide where my priorities lie - running or getting my body back (for now - I'll always run and race but right now my body needs work!)

    What are your plans for health/fitness this week? Same as usual - 4 in the gym, 2 runs. DH suggested I start trying to get a short run done in the evenings on the days I go to the gym on my lunch break. We have a treadmill at home so it's feasible, but two-a-days sounds a little much for me right now so we'll see. 

    GTKY: Anyone getting affected by this "historic" winter storm coming up the East coast? Stay safe and indoors!! We are right in the Philly area so we are supposed to get hit pretty hard tonight. Thank god I work from home on Mondays and Tuesdays! I made DH brave the grocery store last night so we are pretty well set if it's really bad as they say it will be...

    Alternate GTKY: What are you getting your DH/SO for Valentine's Day? No freaking clue. Honestly I am more excited to get a cute outfit for LO and do some cute valentine's day craft for DH with her. Any pinterest moms have some cute, easy ideas??

  • How were your runs and workouts this week?
    I haven't really been running much. I miss it but I can't run comfortably with the added weight. I need to continue to loose more before I will start running, BUT I've been walking daily and will get up to 3 miles this week as a daily walk!

    What are your plans for health/fitness this week?
    Start T25 (oh mah gahd) and continue the 30 day yoga challenge.

    I'm in Texas so no storm for me, but prayers for those of you who are. I have no idea what to get DH for VDay...I should get on that quick!

    Runs: great! I ran 3 times, one less than I was supposed to, but we ran 8 miles on Saturday! It felt awesome and I was so excited! It's the farthest I've ever run. I didn't even stop for a drink.

    Plan: running 4 times, lifting 1-2 times. Longest run will be 6 miles, less than 2 weeks til the 15k.

    GTKY: also in Texas, no bad weather in sight. It will probably be bad the day of the 15k only. I could really use a snow day tho...

    GTKY: no clue. We're not big valentines people. He's trying to lose so candy is probably a bad idea. Maybe I'll just do something dirty. Wink wink!

    Terrible.  Julia is sick and I am also sick with laryngitis.  This week has been zero fun.  I rode my spin bike for a total of 1 hour and did one 25 minute strength video the entire week.  We are feeling better so hoping to get in a real decent week this week!

    What are your plans for health/fitness this week?
    Run, spin, weights, long run!

    GTKY: Anyone getting affected by this "historic" winter storm coming up the East coast? Hardly- it's snowing here but we won't get any of the good stuff!  Just an inch or 2! 
    Alternate GTKY: What are you getting your DH/SO for Valentine's Day?
    We don't really get each other gifts anymore.  Just a card with a nice message.   We will celebrate and go out to dinner (not on actual V-day though since it's so crowded!)

  • @babygabe614- what treadmill do you have?  we are in the market for one and I cannot make up my mind!

  • @Kinipela7 We have an inexpensive ProForm - we got it at Sears about 2 years ago and it was really affordable (somewhere in the $400-500 range on sale). I love it. It's lightweight and folds up if you need the space, but still sturdy enough for me and 200-lb DH to run on it consistently (nearly every day) for 2 years now with no issues. 

    Sorry to hear about all the sickies in your house! Glad to hear you are starting to improve!

  • Runs/workouts:
    Not bad. 3 strength workouts and 1 yoga session.

    Plans for health/fitness:
    Continue strength sessions and squeeze on one run hopefully.

    GTKY storm:
    Haven't gotten any new snow and its awesome! Wind chill is -23C however so absolutely not running outside in that.
    @Kinipela7‌ we have a NordicTrack from Sears also and it's been great! Lots of features and my hubby is 6'4", 250lb and he is able to run on it without issues.

    GTKY Valentine's Day-
    No plans yet! I've organized the last 2 years so it's hubby's turn this year!!:)

    Ps this group is slowly/sadly dwindling do you guys plan to keep posting this group weekly?
  • @TheGizzmo I will keep coming back as long as there is interest. I have thought about just starting this thread on FB but I don't think everyone who frequents this thread is in the FB group. I'm interested to hear what the rest of you guys think we should do, though.

  • This is the only post I look at and have been for awhile only because I really don't have the time to lurk on forums anymore!  I deleted myself out of the facebook group as well so I hope we don't move this to there!

  • hey ladies! i am glad this thread is still around.  i am pretty bummed the bump imploded because j14 was the only board i participated in.  i am not in any of the fb groups either.

    How were your runs and workouts this week? 
    runs and workouts were tough because i caught the flu.  our whole house was sick with something.  baby boy got an ear infection which actually didnt seem to bother him at all.  we are all recovered now though.

    get back on track!  run twice and lift three times.
