Random worrisome health question,

Before I start, I have called the on call nurse for this and received no answer for what is happening. I have been having episodes of what feels something like cramping in my legs and moves up my body when I stand and stay standing. It usually subsides when I sit down but isn't today. I have checked my Bp which is 109/72, my blood sugar is 127(which is normal since I just ate) and my pulse which is 112. A little high. Anyone else having these symptoms or know what they could be from?

Re: Random worrisome health question,

  • No, I've never had them. Do you have any bananas or cantaloupe near you? Something high in potassium might help alleviate the cramping while you wait for the call back. Also, push the water and do your best to relax, or at the very least take deep breaths. Make sure you're keeping your oxygen intake steady while you wait for a call back. Good luck!

  • I've been eating banana's lately as this isn't the first time this has happened and I remember having low potassium with my first pregnancy. I'm at work so it is hard to stay seated. I'm a recreational assistant at a nursing home and rehab center and have an activity coming up in 30 minutes and I still don't feel better. My little one is kicking me though which lets me know she is ok. The nurse must have explained my symptoms incorrectly because the doctor wants me tested for the flu. I'm not sick at all. It's not that kind of ache.
  • I'm drinking orange juice and think it has to have something to do with potassium. Have you ever gotten out of bed to quickly and gotten a cranky feeling along with light headed mess and had to lay back down? That's the cramping I'm feeling.
  • Pickles are a good source of potassium, also. But like PP said water and elevate legs as much as possible,
  • Could be sciatic pain. Sounds to me like it may be. Also with your heart rate on the higher side you could be a little dehydrated which found cause cramping.
  • I've eaten so many pickles as well, not even knowing that they are a good source of potassium.lol I remember having to drink something with my first from the hospital but they haven't found my potassium to be low this time of surely they would have given it to me again or at least told me.
  • No on the sciatic nerve. I know all about it and have problems with it since my first. This is all over. Arms legs chest
  • This is so crazy, no clue what this could be! This really sucks about your job- no rest for you at all! I honestly have no advice if you're getting your potassium, you're hydrated and you're resting all you possibly can.

Have you ever tried acupuncture? That might help. I used to go for years. It's so expensive, but I found a school near me. It was only $25/session. A student was learning on me (lol, i know) but they were all very good, never hurt and were so so so helpful. I went in my last pregnancy and they helped so much. I've since moved and now acupuncture is like $80/session and not covered by insurance, so I don't go. But it might help?

Hope something comes through for you soon!
