I am so confused. My OB's office is saying I have to have my RH shot within 24 to 48 hours of "labs" and that I should have my glucose test done the morning of my appointment.
They don't have to be the same day. Glucose test can be on a different day than the RH shot. Last time I got mine weeks apart! But for the rhogam injection you have to get blood drawn, the lab has to mix it with something to make the actual injection then you get the injection. I got the blood drawn over lunch, then had to go back after work for the injection.

That makes sense. I never thought about the Rhogam being an individually tailored thing. Hmm.
Rhogam is not an individually tailored injection. The injections are pre packaged and ready to be adminstered. They draw your blood before to either 1. Double check your blood type and confirm your blood type is negative. or 2. Check to see if you have already been exposed to the RH antibodies.

This is why you should ask a doctor. You have two completely different answers. Call your doctors office.

Yup!
Agreed. I remember the lab tec telling me they had to mix up something before I got the injection, but he could have been confused. Or I could have been confused. Its hard to tell.
I don't understand why you seem to have a problem doing both at the same time? You already have to get stuck and you're already going to feel like shit, why not do them both and get it done.
FWIW I'm doing both tomorrow and never questioned it. I trust my doctor
I used to do the blood draw and then administer Rhogam injections at the hospital I worked at, which is why I know they are prepackaged as I had to pick them up from the lab, but all labs and hospitals are different, so that is why it is best you call your doctor!
My OB office does the glucose test, the TDAP shot and the RH shot (is applicable) all in the same appointment. I'd bet it's because your already hanging around for so long.
You don't have to do them same day. It just saves them having to test your blood again before the RH. They have to draw your blood and test for antibodies for the RH so it's just easiest if they do it when taking your blood for the glucose.
I'm getting my Rhogam shot on Wednesday night and I had my glucose test on Jan 12th so in general I know that you don't have to do both on the same day. If im having any blood drawn before the shot that will come as a surprise to me! I'm sure there's a reason why your OB office needs you to do it that way and if I were you I'd ask why (out of curiosity.) The other comments on this thread shed some light. Sounds like it's to do with your particular timing/situation.

Rhogam is pre-mixed. It isn't specific to you. However, you will have to have your blood drawn to do what's called an antibody screen prior to receiving the shot. It has nothing to do with the glucose testing, but it's nice to get blood drawn for everything all at once. I did my glucose tolerance test and other blood work at 24 weeks (checking for anemia, antibody screen) and then got my Rhogam shot today.

Seriously? You're going to take the advise of a total stranger over your doctors? Wow. Just fucking wow.
I would ask your doctor to make sure, but my experience with the rhogam shot hasn't involved a blood draw. I've had two so far and will have a third in about a month. The only one that was accompanied by a blood draw was the first one because it was early in my pregnancy and they had to find out my blood type, which is what led to the injection.
OP when are you due? And why are you posting in multiple birth boards? I happened to be lurking in May 15 and saw you had made an identical post there. :-q
OP seems to have disappeared. Guess she went back to May after getting what she wanted.
And I just had my glucose test and Rogham shot today. I'm still alive.

At 24 weeks I had my glucose test and my blood drawn.
At 28 weeks I had my blood drawn and then my rogham shot. But....I also had a rogham shot and my blood drawn at 12 weeks b/c of some spotting.
During the same appt. No biggie at all
