Favourite ice cream flavour? If you could enjoy a drink with anybody famous or infamous from past or present who would it be? (And why) Biggest pet peeve? Song that you can't resist singing along to?
This place in Cambridge MA makes something called B3 -- it's browned butter-brown sugar ice cream with brownie chunks in it.  Holy hell it's good.  I would say my general go-to these days is salted caramel.

I'm surprising myself with this answer, but I'd like to have a drink with Queen Elizabeth -- the current one.  Woman has seen a LOT in her life and has borne it all -- war, scandal, loss, Twitter -- with dignity.  That impresses me.  Also, I don't think my wife would let me have a drink with Rachel Maddow. ;)

Pet peeve?  The fact that men* can buy pants in a variety of inseam/waist size combinations, but women** can buy pants in, at best, three lengths -- short, regular, tall -- and fewer overall sizes.  This particularly irks me because I'm too tall for short/petite and too short for regular, but in principle this just doesn't make any sense.  Why are we still settling for this???***

Song.  Hmmm.  From the last year or so, I would say "Pompeii" by Bastille.  I also have to play steering-wheel drums when it comes on, which was stupid and painful at the end of my pregnancy when I had carpal tunnel.

*or people who buy/wear men's clothing
**or people who buy/wear women's clothing
***yes, I'm aware this is a first-world problem, but we're talking "pet peeves," not "global concerns."

What is the best live theater (play/music/concert) you've seen?

I created my account when I was planning my wedding, so probably 2006-2007.  I was on The Knot, and my world was very wedding/marriage-centric, and I had started (jokingly) referring to myself as my wife's "old ball and chain."  It's actually ironic because I'm not restrictive or demanding at all -- my wife is always saying things like, "everyone is jealous that my wife lets me go out with my guy friends and doesn't give me crap about it."  I like my alone time and my independence, so far be it from me to deny my wife the same.  And I'm thrilled she has friends who like sports so I don't have to go to sporting events with her!

August, Osage County.  Still haven't seen the movie but I loved the play.

  • Hands down best cocktail you ever had?

What was your wedding like; big, small, fancy?

It's summertime. Are you going to the ocean or camping?
  • If you could see any animal in the wild, what animal would it be?

If you could have one talent that you don't have, what would it be?
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

The first gin and tonic after pregnancy? ;)

My favorite classic cocktail is the Aviation.  Preferably at a swanky bar like The Hawthorne.

Hmmm.  Big is relative.  We had about 125 guests, I think.  We got married at a barn-turned-wedding facility in the summer.  It was fancy in the sense that it was at a nice venue, there was staff to run everything, dinner was plated, open bar, etc.  But because of the venue and because of who we are, we tried to keep it casual in lots of ways.  We told people to wear whatever they wanted (there were jeans and there were ballgowns), we nixed a lot of wedding traditions, and we served brownie sundaes instead of wedding cake.  I'm attaching a photo that kind of gives you an idea.

We do NOT camp.  I have never actually done it but it sounds horrible to me.  I don't even like the idea of being in a cabin that doesn't have plumbing.  Or a cabin that doesn't have wi-fi. ;)  So definitely the ocean!!!

  • Favorite type of food? If you make a mythical create come to life, what would it be? Favorite restaurant? ....can you tell that I am hungry?

    Stuck in the box!

I love carbs, especially any kind of pasta or noodles (not necessarily Italian -- it could be pretty much anything noodle-like, for any cuisine).  It honestly does not make up a huge part of my diet these days because it's not the healthiest thing, but it's often what I crave.  Also sweets!

Favorite restaurant.  Hmmmm.  I honestly don't think I can answer this!  We love eating out and there are so many places I love to go.  It really depends on mood and budget.

Mythical creature -- how about Falkor, the luck dragon?

    1. Write.

    2. Our trip to Charleston a couple of years ago was really great.  We've been to more exciting destinations, but the combination of laziness and sight-seeing, cooking and eating out, city activities and beach time on that trip was perfect, and we were traveling with very good friends.

    3. I THINK I probably won't, but I also think it's very hard to predict at this point!  We can't afford to put another kid in infant daycare until B is in preschool (2.9-3), so I would say I'm at LEAST a year and a half away from another FET, if we were to do one.  Given that time frame, I'm much more comfortable leaving things up in the air until we get closer.  I can list a LOT of good reasons for B to be an only, but I can't quite give up (yet) on the idea of him "needing" a sibling or the idea of being pregnant again.

  • @ball.and.chain & @flygirl1228 - I love falcore too.  He yells "Mondenkind" ("Moonchild").

...ok I admit I googled it (I read the book years ago in German but had forgotten). ;-)

Are you 5'4 by chance? That is how tall I am and I have the exact same issue.

  • Am I the only one who was/is creeped out by Falcor?

I'm 5'4 1/2" and regular length is perfect, though I do prefer to wear wedges with work pants and dressy jeans. Definitely can't wear flats with most pants. You have a great point, though.

  • I LOVED Falcor as a child! I thought he was a giant flying puppy, and I couldn't understand why all puppies didn't fly and weren't that big! :)

I am 5'7" and I have the same problem with average and tall pants. When I wear flats, I can usually wear average length, but sometimes after 1 wash they are then too short... Sometimes I have to wear tall pants if I plan to wear heels or wedges, but then they are still too long sometimes. It is a struggle! HAHA ... also not all "average" and "tall" lengths are the same. WHY?!?!
