January 2015 Moms

Breast Shells/Milkcatchers are great!

I used these as breast shells to protect my nipples in the beginning. I finally got them out again to use as milkcatchers (I leak almost every feeding).
Just want to AW that I already have 1 1/2 oz in the freezer after just 3 feedings. I hate pumping, so it is pretty good to have something that will keep my shirt dry and give me a small emergency stash without having to pump  <:-P

Re: Breast Shells/Milkcatchers are great!

  • I just ordered these off of Amazon.  Mine are coming on Monday, was hoping to catch some milk since I supplement with a little bit over an ounce after breastfeeding.  Hope it works well for me!

  • I love mine too. I wore mine last night to vent the nips for 2 hours and then during a nursing session and during that time I got a total of 4oz. (I dumped 3x)

I highly recommend them and often gift them to moms to be.
  • I love them too! I started using them just to give my nipples separation from my shirt cuz they hurt so bad but I didn't wanna just hang out with no top on lol.. then I started noticing it was collecting all this milk so I've started saving it! They're really awesome.. n I will definitely b adding them to my future babyshower gift list for my mom-to-be friends..
  • Nice! I'll have to find these. Can you only order them from Amazon?

  • mshepherd20 I got the AVENT breast shells, if you google it they are also carried by toys r us, walmart, and other places as well as being in stores.
I empty mine right after a feed, and only use them during a feed. You aren't supposed to leave them on constantly.
I personally haven't found that they cause more leaking, I soak through my breast pads and shirt and onto baby when I don't have them.

  • I never leaked out the other breast when breastfeeding so I'm not entirely sure everyone needs these.
  • @GromMom you are lucky! I leak every feeding....

I did leak in the very beginning but not while feeding, only if I went out and didn't nurse (was pumping early and gave bottles in public before I got brave)I remember looking down and seeing a huge milk stain from my seat belt when I went to the post office and mailed my birth announcements, but never really leaked while breastfeeding ds. I wonder if it will be different for this baby.
