So about 11 days ago, DD had her 15 month shots. All was well other than her poor legs being sore. She got MMR, Prevnar, and 2nd Flu booster. Then 9 days later (weds) she is send home from daycare with 104 fever. Pedi, whom I love, says her fever is from MMR and watch her for a couple days. So today is day 3 of fever 101 min to around 103. Tylenol/ibuprofen helps for about 4-5 hrs but fever comes right back. No other symptoms other than she does not feel good. She isn't eating her norm but eating a little and drinking enough to keep wet diapers. I was thinking of she is still running fever tomorrow, I'm taking her in. What do you guys think?? Any experience with this?
Re: MMR Reaction? Your opinions please.
Medically speaking, you treat a fever of 104 the same as 101. It no more harmful. Alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours. Hope it passes soon!
Kids spike higher fevers than adults. 104 would be a dangerous fever for an adult, but kids do that just with an ear infection. Just try to keep up on the medicine and if she gets really hot, do a lukewarm bath, and dress lightly.
Sorry you are dealing with this--but remember what you are seeing is actually a good thing that she is going to have antibodies for the rest of her life through these yucky few days...
