Harvard vanguard post office square

Has anyone had experience with HV at Post Office Square? Or, with Crystal Morin (midwife) or Dr Nada Samara? Thanks!

  • No experience with the Obstetrics team at HVMA Post Office Square, but loving my experiences with my Ob/Midwife team at HVMA Wellesley.

  • I am at HVMA POS currently.  My OB/GYN no longer delivers at BIDMC (she only delivers at Newton Wellseley now since they needed more drs there), so she recommended I see Dr. Samaha.

I alternate my visits between Dr. Samaha and my nurse midwife - Helen Dajer.  Dr. Samaha is excellent - extremely competent and I trust her 100%.  My only caveat is she is very upbeat and friendly.  And she is a hugger - which was definitely weird for me and DH but she is good and competent so we stuck with her.  She also listens to what I am saying and asking - and answers my questions thoroughly - I never feel rushed.  (Though I should warn you she does have a tendency to run behind schedule - not sure if it is just bad luck in timing that other patients have taken longer or last minute / urgent appts get slotted in)

I really like Helen - I think she is fantastic and would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone.  She is also thorough, nice, etc.

I have seen Dr. Gagliardi as well - again great things to say.

Regardless of who you see, it is not a bad idea to see others in the practice so you meet them as you never know who will be on call when you deliver.  Overall I have been very pleased with my experience there - the doctors, nurses, midwives, etc all really care and they listen.  Further they don't seem to push interventions and minimize invasive checks.  In addition, I have never once felt silly for calling with a question / concern.  They have always been very responsive and kind and supportive.  I actually felt silly a few weeks back calling because I felt like the baby hadn't moved as much - while waiting for the call back from the nurse I felt a few strong kicks, so I assumed they would tell me not to worry.  Instead they suggested I come in to run a NST so that they could put my and their mind at ease rather than have the day wear on and me become concerned if activity was low throughout the day.

    Good luck!

  • Thank you @lady2010! I appreciate the thoughtful and informative response :-) do you have any thoughts on BIDMC?
  • From what I have seen it looks good. Definitely recommend going to a meet the midwives and meet the Dr's at some point in your 3rd tri. And doing the hospital tour.

We have learned a lot of our friends have delivered there and all had great experiences. They seem to be low intervention and pro-skin-to-skin immediately following birth.

I am due soon (I hope!!!) so can provide first hand experience after that. Feel free to ping me in case I forget.

  • Thank you! Best wishes for an easy birth!
  • I had Dr. Samaha in the Burlington location, she is absolutely amazing!! I am so sad that she moved from Burlington to POS, I couldn't make that commute. If you get her you will love her!! Good luck!!!

Can I ask who you've seen at the Wellseley office. I actually had an annual with Dr. Patel during my TWW and the found out I was pregnant about a week later. I really liked her and now my first prenatal appointment is with nurse midwife Susan Kimjay. My understanding is that the doctor wants to see patients once a trimester so my second appointment will be with Dr. Patel but my hope is to birth with a midwife.
  • I also see Dr Patel - she's really nice and responsive. I'm also seeing Carol Hong-Richon as my midwife - another great practitioner. I really like the team there.
