Baby flipped! ECV not needed :)

At my last appointment my midwife told me my baby was still breech and I should start thinking about my options (ex. chiropractor, ECV, C-section, etc). I ended up doing some of the simpler stuff from spinningbabies.com and, after looking into the safety (looked like it wouldn't do harm) and efficacy (questionable) of chiropractic help, I went to a recommended chiropractor twice.

I had another visit yesterday, and the baby had flipped! I don't know if it was the spinningbabies stuff, the chiropractor, or just what she would have done on her own, but I'm just glad that she's no longer breech.

In the meantime I did tons or research on ECV before I knew she flipped... I was dubious about the risks involved in ECV and the success rate at first, but after really looking into it, I think I would have gone for it if baby girl hadn't flipped herself around. Since this is my 2nd baby, it sounds like it would have had about 70% chance of working. I'm glad I don't need to find out, though! If anyone needs some good sites to peruse, let me know and I'd be happy to share.

I'd be interested in websites. I'm 37 +1 and baby is frank breech

. I was at the chiro 3x this last week with no success. My midwife is really pushing the ECV but my DH and I are just really worried about if it would even work & the risks involved. I've had a prior c-section so was told it would increase my chance of a uterus rupture. I'm so at a lost as too what to do. I really wanted a VBAC but I don't know that the risks of the ECV are worth it and we have the pressure of time against us. Midwife said we have until end of next week to do it otherwise baby will be to big

I totally get where you're coming from. One thing that I hadn't initially considered is that if the baby is breech, you're going to need some sort of non-standard procedure, so you can't consider the ECV risks in a vacuum and/or compare the risks to a vaginal birth. You need to compare an ECV to a C-section. No matter what you do, there are going to be risks involved that wouldn't be there with a head-down vaginal birth. The risks of something going really wrong with an ECV are really small, so for me that meant that I'd rather try for the ECV. Per the last website, it sounds like the existing evidence indicates that a prior C-section shouldn't be a problem, but that more studies are needed before that conclusion can really be drawn. Wow that's cool they did it so early on you. A lot of things I've read say they won't before 37 weeks because there's a chance baby will flip back to breech. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and just found out baby is frank breech on Wednesday. Been trying lots of stuff to get him to flip since then. I haven't talk to my doc about it yet but I'm hoping she'll schedule a ECV asap next week. Again congrats on your successful turning so happy you'll be able to have a vaginal birth!

@kdhuling Sounds like you might think I had an ECV? I didn't. I got lucky and the baby turned on its own. I did see a chiropractor who does the Weber technique, though who knows if that made a difference. Thank you for your good wishes, though! I hope that your baby turns and, barring that, that you have a successful ECV.
