  How far along are you? Why would you want to speed up labor? Also...

  37 weeks and not speed labor up but help efface the cervix, it was recommended by my doctor.

  From my understanding the purpose isn't to induce labor , it simply helps soften the cervix. It's meant to help your body along with the effacing to puts you at a bit of an advantage once labor begins because once you are fuly effaced dilation happens more easily and labor can be shorter. Talk to your doctor about it. Only they can tell you the full extent of the reason and consequences of taking it.

  I am taking it for a different reason. My midwife suggested it for an easier med free delivery. It was a long day and she lost me after that with something about preparing my cervix. Not for the actual dilation part of it. I take 2 1000 mg capsules in the morning. But I'm also almost 2 weeks farther along than you.

  I would ask your dr this question then. I read "speed up labor" and I was like "what?!?"

  My midwife recommended it me too since j was 10 days over with my first. I've read a lot of good things and few bad about it. She didn't mention dosages or when to start and I didn't ask since it was a little early yet. I plan on asking at my 36 week appt.

  I'm taking the pill and using the oil for perineum stretching
  Hypnobabies recommended
  Dr said it doesn't help or hurt
  Worth a try!

  My Douala recommended it, but midwife said it's won't hurt anything.

  The Douala had me start it at 36 weeks orally.  500mg in the morning, and 500mg in the evening.  Then at 38 weeks inserting 2 pills (1,000mg) vaginally before bed so they can dissolve, along with taking the other 1,000mg orally.
