April 2015 Moms

~*~*~* weekly ivf/tttc/2if/infertility grads check-in 1/20

This check-in is meant for women who had a lot more trouble than most getting pregnant. You don't have to have done IVF to be part of the group, but we do want this limited to those who were diagnosed as infertile by an RE and were using some kind of medical assistance to get pregnant.

What's new with everyone this week? Symptoms to report? Scans? Appointments? Any cute, heart melting moments? Anyone needing extra thoughts/prayers Tell us everything!

Hi ladies, with everything the happened on the Bump last week, we lost many great people, i'm unsure who we have still here, and if there are people who would like me to continue the IVF check in's. Im still active on the bump, and love our check in's so i would be more than happy to continue. We lost our most recent roll call list, so please PM me so i can update the list i have, who would like to be included, i know I'm missing some of our angel babies, and due dates. Also all of your great ideas for disccusions were lost to, so if you can post them again, that would be great.

QOTW: Please share any disccusions you would like to see in these coming last weeks.

Re: ~*~*~* weekly ivf/tttc/2if/infertility grads check-in 1/20

  • What's new with everyone this week? I had my GD test last week, the OB called today to tell me i passed the test, so that was a relief. She did tell me I'm anemic, my level is quite low, with each of my pregnancies I've always suffered with anemia, so it wasn't such a huge surprise. Im now taking an added iron supplement and they will re check again in 4 weeks.

Symptoms to report? Other than the sleepless nights, aches and pains, heartburn (all the third trimester joys) I'm feeling ok.
Scans? No scan now till the 3rd Feb, for another growth scan, to see how big this little boy is getting.
Appointments? Nothing until the 3rd, when i have my scan.
Any cute, heart melting moments? We were gifted a 4d ultrasound, i had never had one with my DD's so this was a new experience. It was nice we could bring our DD's and they got to see there baby brother for the first time. As a part of the package, we were given pictures, DVD, and a recording of our LO heartbeat. My DH thought is would be a great idea to take our DD's to Build A Bear Workshop, so they could pick out a bear for there new brother, and we placed the recording of his heartbeat inside the bear. It was such a sweet experience to share.

    :x :x

I hope everyone is feel good, as we start going through our last trimester!

  • @taahira - Thanks for keeping the flame burning! Congrats on passing the GTT!

I'm here, at least for the moment. One girl, due 4/17. Heartburn, which I've only felt a few times in this pregnancy, and never before in all my days, is suddenly ruining my life. I can't sleep, so I can't get good work done, nor exercise, nor keep up with a healthy diet, prenatals, water, nor any of the other things I'm supposed to do. My mom used to have a lot of problems with this, so she and I worked out a "mini-cleanse" that I'm going to try for a few days and see if I can get ahead of this bastard. Next appt, including the GTT, is on Thursday.

    QOTW: Didn't we just do that last week? Or am I hallucinating? 8-}

  • I am so sad and confused about everything that happened here!!!  GrailSeeker14 is gone and so are all of her old posts, so our check-ins and other information are gone :(

I'm still here and hope to hear from others still with us!?  I'm due April 18 with a baby boy.

I have my glucose test Thursday.  I'm a little anxious, mostly because I feel like I was told conflicting 'advice' for pre-testing guidelines.  Do you ladies know if I should just fast until my appointment, or am I ok to eat anything!?  The first lady at my office said to eat toast, and the next said NO to toast because of carbs and said I could eat an egg??  I certainly don't want to cause myself to fail...so I'm thinking nothing??

We will then have a follow-up u/s next Monday to check fluid, baby's size, and cervical length (because of past leep procedure).  I'm looking forward to seeing our boy again!!

  • @taahira - thanks for maintaining the board. Congrats on passing the gtt.

@jszy10 - gl on your gtt. Unfortunately I dont know the prep since I did the hba1c test first, and my dr said i could skip gtt.

@pblge‌ - sorry to hear of your heartburn. It sounds terrible. Hope the mini-cleanse works out for you! Gl with your gtt.

1 baby due 4/27. Team green.

Symptoms to report? Feeling good physically. Baby is more active now or at least I can feel it better with my anterior placenta. And I finally popped! It feels fantastic. Emotionally, still trying to keep it together - counting down to 27w and then 28w.

Scans: next growth scan on 7th feb. Its out of turn but we're a bit concerned that the abdominal circumference reading is low. New worry of the week.

    Appointments: next on 9th feb

Any cute, heart melting moments: heard the HR on the doppler last week and it never stops being magical :)
  • jszy10, I'm not sure what all happened and intend to stay out of the drama it sounds like it was.  I'm sad about it since I really look forward to this thread each week, and enjoyed following everyone's progress.

    1 girl, due April 9

New this week:  OB appointment today that was the most uneventful yet.  I always get an ultrasound, but not today since I have my Level 2 ultrasound at maternal fetal next week (an outcome of being GD positive).  I've adapted *pretty* well to my meal plan / diet, and have realized they are right - hormones really dictate this thing because it is not completely predictable.  I had a nice piece of cake Saturday for my nephew's first birthday, and had a good blood sugar reading.  Weird stuff.

QOTW:  The ideas I recall the most were nursery pics, hospital bag items, and I suggested weird dreams.
  • I Still look in on the posts here from time to time, and this was really the only thread I typically participated in, aside from HDBD. I do know that those of us who have gone elsewhere would like to have this check in there too.

AFM: 1 girl, due April 6. We got a surprise U/S at my 28 week appt last week, so that was fun. LO has the cutest chubby cheeks already! I passed my GTT (yay) but am still anemic (Boo) so they upped my iron to a Rx dose. Baby girl is still head down, which is good, but she's putting a lot of pressure on my pelvic area and her kicks are getting harder, and more painful. I had a strange symptom this weekend. My left heel kept going numb. I think it must have just been a nerve getting pinched.

We are doing our 3d/4D u/s on Sunday, so I'm looking forward to that. Also started our child birth classes over the weekend.

  • Hi there. We have 1 boy on the way and he is due 4/18.

I had my GD test on Monday and am still anxiously waiting for my results. :/
We also had a 28 week ultrasound and baby boy is looking good. He is filling out nicely and she said he was measuring a week ahead (70-something percentile). He is still Frank Breech and seems to be comfortable that way.

@jszy10‌ I had my GD test pretty early so I didn't eat anything. I was told I could have something small that was low in sugar if I needed it but I didn't want to risk throwing off the results. I still don't know if I passed though.

@taahira‌ we have been bringing DD to our scans too. I agree it is very magical. :)
  • Thank you @pblge for finding Grailseeker14, she sent me the roll call, due dates etc. I now have most of the information. Her account was shut down so quickly, she didn't have time to pass the information over to me. Im so sorry to hear you have heartburn, it is horrible! hopefully the mini clense will work. Good luck for your GD, let us know how it goes.

@jszy10 Good luck for your GD, i wasn't told to fast, only not to eat anything that had a lot of sugar in. I had scrambled eggs and black tea proir to my test. I did have food with me so i could eat straight away. If i go to long without food i start to feel sick. I hope everything is well for your u/s next Monday. Keep us posted.

@smish82 its just the best feeling when you start to feel those consistent moves! Wishing you all the best for your up and coming scan, let us know how it went. Hearing your LO heartbeat is always the best sound. Have a great week!

@stranzm Im sorry you came back positive, it sounds like you are dealing with the food changes really well. I hope you have a great ultrasound next week!

@seachele98 Congrats on passing your GD! Urgh I'm anemic to, how are the iron supplements on your digestive system? I'm really not enjoying taking mine. Have a great time at your 3/4D U/S, you will have to show us a sneak peak.

@keifekm I hope you get good results, the waiting is a killer, let us know. isn't it sweet seeing there faces filling out now, it docent seem that long ago we ere looking at little gummy bears. Have a great week!
  • @taahira‌ - thanks for keeping up the check in.
I'm 26w0d today - which puts me at another 2 week mini goal. Tomorrow I'll start to focus on making it to 28w, but today, I'll just focus on the accomplishment if keeping both babies cooking 6 weeks after PPROM.

I get scanned twice a week now, and at my last scan they estimated the babies' weights as 1 lb 12 oz and 1lb 11 oz.thats up 10 oz each since their last measurement.

    Otherwise, I'm just trucking along.

  • @taahira‌ the iron supps are as bad on the digestive system as everyone says. I have found that my reflux/heartburn isn't as bad now that I'm on the higher dose which is a bonus. I just wish I could get some energy back. Being exhausted all the time is getting tough.

Mostly i think we are so excited to meet our little boy. I keep telling myself not long now. Im so happy the GD isn't as bad as it could be, and easier to manage.

  • Hey everyone, still here though I was away for several weeks so I have no clue about the goings on here last week. Anyways, baby boy is still due 4/15 and I've started my check ups every other week. Everything is going well, passed the GD test and Iron is good too.
Last night I did think maybe I was having an episode of reduced movement, which is hard for me to tell since most of the day I kind of forget about it, but I drank some juice and water and laid down and though it took him a whole he did eventually start kicking again. I feel like I don't know when to call if it seems like he's not moving. Nor do I know what we do from there, so a bit anxious on that front. Glad everyone else is doing well!
  • @canuck13 I hope you receive good results for your GD test, lets hope this tri speeds by.

@jszy10 Oh no!! it wasn't by a lot either, i also had 2 eggs scrambled. I hope the 3 hour test turns out ok. Do you know when you have it?

@jhesterm Well done for passing the test! I find when I'm moving around a lot i don't notice him moving so much, i try to take some time to drink something cold and lay down, he always seems to move and let me know he is ok. Also I've noticed some days he is so active, jumping around all day, other days he isn't so active, but i always make sure he is moving, stretching or kicking around 10 times in 1 hour.
  • taahira -- I know :( such a bummer to be so close!  I wonder if my eating habits the day or two before would have an effect too!?  I have to wait for the paperwork, so I'll be going one day next week.  Because of work I'll probably wait until Thursday.

baby_blessings -- That is what I thought/figured about the eggs.  I'm sorry to hear you were diagnosed with GD :(.  Any recommendations they gave for things to stay away from??  I'm wondering now if I should stay away from my fruit and yogurt smoothies in the morning, or anything else that I do regularly.

Since I had a celery stick and dry toast for breakfast they sent me packing and told me to come another day. *sigh*

  • @jszy10  - I failed the 3 hours test (just the last test, but failure = failure).  I've been monitoring my blood sugars 4x/day after meeting with the dietician and nurse a little over 2 weeks ago.  It is definitely hormonal, as I can't always predict if/when my level will go over my target threshold.  However, tomato sauce was definitely a trigger.  In addition, they were clear to not eat too much at breakfast.  I'm allowed 3 carb points at breakfast because the hormones are the highest in the morning.  Your smoothie may or may not be within that - I'm guessing not.  Yogurt servings are generally 1.5-2 points, a banana is 2 points, etc.  The key is spreading the carb points throughout the day.  I'm supposed to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks.  That is definitely not how I usually eat, so I have a fruit (apple or banana) in mid-morning for my 2 carb point snack.   Oh, and the dietician said to skip the fat free products, such as salad dressings, as they have added sugar.  I never noticed that before!
  • stranzm.  I'm sorry you failed your 3hr.  I was told I had to 'fail' 2 of the 3 to be diagnosed, so that stinks that just 1 pushed you over.  I guess every OB has their preferred requirements.

I typically do a light n fit yogurt (probably 1/2 cup), some milk, strawberries, blueberries, peaches and oats.  I'm guessing that's probably too much too??  Ugh..I guess we will see.  Maybe I avoid them for now?

  • Hi Ladies!  nice to see some of you are still here :)  I am due 4/30 with a baby girl.

Second ER trip in as many weeks yesterday.  I contracted norovirus at work and became extremely ill yesterday morning.  Thankfully out of the hospital now and home to rest.   Unfortunately our baby shower was scheduled for today and I had friends fly in cross country just for the shower :(

Thankfully baby girl is doing fine through everything.
