I arrived at the hospital at 8am on 1-20-15 for a scheduled induction at 39w2d. The hospital had no beds available because apparently on the day I'm scheduled for induction everyone else in my city goes into labor on their own!
At 9am I get into a room. My Dr came in and spoke with me and wanted to see how far I was dilated and possibly go ahead and break my water. Having my cervix checked has never hurt so bad! They said I was dilated to 2cm but my cervix was sitting behind her head and that was making it extremely difficult to check. My Dr went ahead and attempted to break my water. There wasn't a "gush" so we wondered if it actually broke or not. They started the pitocin at 10am at 11:20 I started having contractions and had small "gushes" every now and then. I called my nurse who confirmed that my water had Definitely been broken. At about 12:00 I got my epidural put in. I still felt pressure but it was tolerable. Shortly later I started having awful cramps on the left side of my lower back every time I had a contraction. I could feel these very well even with the epidural! I called my nurse who checked me again at 1:15 I was dilated to 10 cm and they called my Dr. I pushed 10 times and then welcomed Ava Olivia to the world At 2:13pm! 6lbs14oz 20in long!
