Anyone else have fibroids?

I had them removed in 2010...had one the size of a baby's head so it couldn't be done laparoscopically because it was too big and there were several.

Anyway, I have them again and after my Sono yesterday my RE said it's up to me if I want them out before trying IVF (we are paying OOP for any fertility treatment, but removal of fibroids IS covered by my insurance). He is hopeful they can do this laparoscopic this time, but is checking with a colleague who will actually do the surgery.

I'm just wondering if any of you have had them removed laparoscopically and if so what's the recovery time when it's done that way??

I had mine removed laparoscopically and they were able to put it into a bag and mince it up in order to pull it out (sounds gross, sorry). Three small incisions and a few days later, stitches came out. I was sore for maybe a week, but in pain for just a couple of days.

Did they say if you could start TTC right after? Did you have a to wait a certain # of cycles? Was your uterine lining effected in any way?

Mine was an intramural one and did not affect my lining. They still benched me for three cycles, though (that was the hardest part, emotionally, but it's for the best).
