Vaginal after C-Section

What are peoples' thoughts and experiences with this? I had my son via c section almost 5 years ago because inducing After 3 days did not work. I want to try vaginal this time but I fear if they want to induce me again that I'll have the same fate as the first time....

    I'm trying to have a VBAC this time.  It seems to me this late in the game you would already have a plan in place with your OB for delivery.

    Are they willing to do a VBAC for you? Some OB's will not attempt them so I would talk to your doctor first. I had to switch OB's to be able to try VBAC this time, there are only 2 doctors in my city who will try. 

    Induction can end in c-section, so can vaginal delivery. Your doctor is the best person to answer your questions.

    I've obviously discussed it with my doctor and as of now am going for vaginal delivery. My doctor encourages VBAC. Im hoping for labor to just happen this time and not have to induce, my body certainly didn't respond.

    OP my doctor said he will absolutely not induce for a VBAC and that it was against standard care or something like that. Basically, inducing is against the rules. But do some research, with an induction it is more likely to become a failed VBAC and result in an emergency c-section and it also increases the risk of uterine rupture as well as various other risks.

    I believe that even if there is no induction, there's risk of uterine rupture and 30% chance of a csection even if I go into labor for vaginal. I didn't know there was an increased risk for uterine rupture if induced!. I'm definitely going to further discuss the inducing part with my doc. So far my blood pressure is good last time it was high and they induced the day before my EDD. I'd like to hear experiences, preferably the success stories!

    Yes there is a slight risk for uterine rupture even without a previous c-section. That percentage that you gave is dependent on various factors so it varies from person to person. Here's some info about VBAC inductions

    I'm not sure exactly what my OB was talking about not doing an induction making it seem like it wasn't allowed but IMO no matter the method it wasn't worth trying for an induction. I'm proof that VBACs do work, but my mother went into spontaneous labor at 40 weeks.

    My md won't induce but is extremely supportive of my vbac. He's also realistic and we've scheduled a Caesarian for a week after my due date if I don't start labor on my own.

    There are methods of induction for VBAC, but nothing like cervadil that softens the cervix can be given because it can also soften the scar. Small amounts of pitocin are sometimes used - it depends on the doctor's personal philosophy. Induction by foley bulb catheter is another method sometimes used.

    Some doctors have rules on how long they'll let you go to go into labor on your own. Some it is only 40 weeks.

    Check out the VBAC board. There are lots of resources that can be found in old posts. Like your chance of needing an RCS is basically the same as that of a FTM having a c/s.

    I've had 2 successful VBACs and will be attempting my 3rd here soon.

    If you are on facebook there is an awesome resource group that has plenty of fact based information. A vbac is a great option for most women after one and sometimes even two c sections. This is according to acog standards. I would def suggest looking into it :) it's never too late even if you did switch docs, but might be a bit more stressful this late in the game. I switched at 20 weeks for someone who was more supportive.
