Don't eat enough?

Hi. I'm 16 weeks pregnant I actually think im 17 weeks but that's neither here nor there... Anywoo I don't feel like I eat enough!! The beginning of my pregnancy I had no appetite I literally lost 11 pounds but I feel guilty now like I'm depriving my baby of food. :( I maybe eat three meals a day. Any suggestions?

  • Can you try throwing in a healthy snack in between? Maybe fruit or almonds, etc?

  • You only need 300 more calories so really easy to accomplish. Try and make it healthier like pp suggested but if you are really worried eat whatever you can stomach. The baby takes what it needs so don't worry you aren't getting enough, make sure you get plenty of water though.
  • 3 meals a day is fine. As PP said you need 300 extra calories a day and you don't have to start adding that until second trimester. Try to eat well but don't kill ypurself over it, if you were sick first trimester your appetite probably needs a chance to come back. Eat well balanced meals. Unless you are super thin and underweight you should be fine if you're eating. You can try nutritious drinks if you're not feeling food. V-8, yogurt drinks(kefir), smoothies, even milk shakes. I would check with OB before adding ensure type drinks to your diet.
  • You can also try drinking pedisure. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it's full of nutrients.
  • I do a protein shake in the morning and I try to eat small, healthy snacks. I have no appetite and didn't with my last pregnancy either. I definitely couldn't eat real meals, so I just grazed.
