BF/Pumping weening rant

Ugh I have been trying to hard to loose that last 10 pounds of pregnancy weight and was actually at only 5-6 pounds away. Over the past month I have been trying to ween as pumping at work just takes too much time and isn't realist any more. I have plenty of BM in my deep freezer to supplement with. Over the past month I have went form pumping 4 times a day and nursing 1-2 times a day down to pumping only 2 times a day with the occasional 1 nursing session a day (DD now prefers the bottle). I work out doing 30-40 minutes of moderate cardio 3-5 times a week and weight training 1-2 times a week. I also have been using fitness pal to track my eating/exercising).

Since cutting back to only 2 pumping session a day I have GAINED 5 pounds! Nothing else has changed. It is so incredibly frustrating as I am on the heavier size of average at 5'6'' and wearing 14 pants size. UGH! I want to be sure that I have enough BM to make it a full year for DD so that we don't have to transition to formula for just a month or so and then to milk, but man I just want control over my body back! I feel like crying, all this hard work just to gain weight?! Thanks for reading.

  • I'm sorry. I didn't pump that long but I was bummed to gain 5 lbs when I stopped, too. It takes calories to make milk so your body is probably adjusting to the reduced demand.

  • I'm sorry this is so frustrating!  I have cut back on pumping (3x to 2x) and REALLY want to make it to a year on breast milk and am the same size - I just feel like I have no control either.  I don't work out as much as you do because I can't seem to find them time...

No advice, just in the same boat.
