June 2015 Moms

Serious Question.....

I hope I don't get flamed for asking this, but I've been with the Bump for years, but really don't pay much attention to the politics of the site/forums. I am confused (as I have obviously missed something) what everyone is up in arms about. I've heard there are new (paid) MODs, but I can't figure out why this is an issue. I also understand some ladies have been banned. I missed out on the reasoning for this, as well. It's sad to see so many people leaving. I may check out the "other side" (when I figure out what that is, lol), but still plan to stick with The Bump, as I don't like change much.

Re: Serious Question.....

  • The problem with the new mods is that the bump just dumped the old mods and without warning. They are also deleting posts such as the hour of silence for loss moms. It pisses people off.

  • If you have no clue, it's because you haven't really been a part of the community. You don't have to be paying attention to the politics to know this, it's all over the damn boards I don't know how anyone could miss it if they are truly a contributing member. There are people here who actually take time out of their days and family life to help and moderate, and they have been treated like stinky garbage. The bump cares only about its bottom line, not its community.

Please do not accuse me of not being part of the community because if you search my past discussions, I have most definitely been an active member. I understand it's all over the board, but I honestly don't understand what/or why all of this happened. Like I said, it makes me sad to see so many ladies leaving (by choice or not), I think the majority of you have been VERY supportive to one another.

It got deleted last night.  Not by me.

    Here's the gist:
The CEO of the TB stepped down in December.  During that time period, there was discussion about rolling out some new Terms of Use for the members of The Bump as a response to some bad app ratings since the app rolled out in July 2014.  These discussions were occuring on the Moderator board.

Many of the moderators told the current Bump administrators the new TOU weren't a great idea, talked about how the community was, advertising revenue, things like that.  These moderators are women who have been with the bump for years, volunteering their services.

A couple of weeks ago, the new "TOU" rolled out, except there was a disclaimer that they weren't actually new TOU.  Just guidelines and reminders to play nice.  There was no change to the current TOU.  At the same time, any moderator who had said anything negative on the moderator only board were banned.  No warnings were given.  No violations of anything.  Other long term members were banned without warnings or explanations as to why their accounts were deactivated.

Obviously members were upset about this.  It was deceitful and short sighted.  They asked to have their accounts deleted.  TB wouldn't delete the accounts.  They ignored the requests.  So these members started posting inflammatory things in the hopes they would be banned.

TB jumped on these later bannings and started issuing statements about how everyone was banned because of the inflammatory posts - even though they started after the first round of mass bannings.  It was a lie.  Everyone knew it was a lie except some special snowflakes who aren't members of the site and don't know any better.

The moderators who weren't banned and stayed were still part of discussions with the administration.  They helped to draft an apology letter to the community about the insanity that has been going on since the bannings.  But instead of issuing the apology, yesterday TB posted that all moderators have been relieved of their duties and were being replaced.  Most of the moderators weren't even told this.  They found out through the post.  These are women who stucked with the current administration even after the banning.  Who helped to try to reign in the chaos.  Who had volunteered hours and years of their life to volunteering as moderators.

So for every pretty pretty princess who thinks this is about being able to swear, or be mean, or whatever it is you think this is about, it's not.  The Terms of Use never changed.  No one was banned for being snarky or honest or answering dumb questions with Gifs.  People were banned out of nowhere, for no reason.  People who played nicely and by the rules had the rug yanked out from under them.  THAT'S why people are upset.  And, those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
Thank you for the information :)
  • Even if you you'r " not aware of the politics" of the site there's literally like 30 threads about what has been happing. It's just a bunch of shit I've realized it's the internet get real. How much can you expect.
  • Well that's pretty wacked - people getting banned for no reason. I admit I had no idea what was going on. I don't post here everyday nor do I have the time to.

  • poohbearlove123 - If you hate it here so much, why aren't you leaving? Not trying to be snarky, but all I've seen is crazy posts from you that are kinda of pointless.

Seriously? You're one of the ones who habitually clogs up the board with inane names, symptoms, baby shower, etc posts. All very AW'ish type of stuff. I've never seen you comment on anyone's loss or limbo threads. Just lots of random fluff here and there. You have never participated in siggy contests or updates your avatar or created a siggy, nothing that constitutes an effort to become a real part of the community we HAD here.

Um, for starters, I cannot get ANYTHING to stick in my signature or for my Avatar to stay, let alone a ticker. And, I will be first to admit I'm not "siggy savvy" so sorry if you consider that as "not participating". I'm been a member here longer than most of you have even been out of high school! Um, no I have never clogged the board with insane names. As a matter of fact, I've posted my FIRST post on the Baby Name board the other day. I have sent condolences to those who have lost (I may not have sent to all, but don't accuse me wrongly). Have I posted AW stuff? Sure, but most of have at some time or another. I have posted about symptoms and received GREAT support/advice - as I have gave to others, as well. So, if YOU have such a problem with me because I haven't updated my Avatar or Signature - Sorry, I'm not sorry. Maybe with the new bump I can actually get my signature/avatar/tickers to stay.
    A. I said inane, not insane. They are two completely different words.

    B. I'm 34, I've been out of high longer than there's been a Bump.

    C. just a brief glance of your history shows a handful of symptoms threads (if you are such a long term upstanding Bump citizen, you should know that gets an immediate side-eye.) One about middle names, one about being crazy for names, one about baby showers and one about gender reveals. All of these are obnoxious, beaten to death topics that are easily searchable, on a group thread or just crap we're tired of hearing about. And way to pick out the least significant thing by pounding the siggy mention to the ground. I was outlining points that distinguish the most active members from ones that just come in to get individual attention.

Edited because, ugh, it turned my bullets into emoticons

    A) I said inane, not insane. They are two completely different words. So sorry, I read, that wrong, but regardless I have not clogged any boards. But, yes, I forgot I did post something about having a moment or craziness wanting to name a daughter after Frozen.

    B) I'm 34, I've been out of high longer than there's been a Bump. Well, yay for us, we are the same age.

    B) just a brief glance of your history shows a handful of symptoms threads (if you are such a long term upstanding Bump citizen, you should know that gets an immediate side-eye.) So, again, so sorry you have such a problem. Maybe it's time to step off your high horse and either go somewhere else if you hate it here so much or just deal with the fact the Bump has made some changes.

Just because not everyone compulsively posts to threads every hour doesn't mean we aren't a part of the community. We are all June mommies to be and have just as much right to participate or not advently participate as anyone else does. No rule stated "to be a part of the community" we have to comment on every new thread. And as far as "they were banned for no reason"? If I were a part of TB company who moderates the site I'd have banned many people too for being so uninviting and calling people names for their comments when they themselves comment on absolutely everything to let "special snowflakes" know that they are "special snowflakes"! What is that even? And what does that make the rest of you? Badger me all you want for posting this, I have Just as much right to comment as anyone else does. But i wont call people special snowflakes for reasking a question. If you're so sick of TB and the changes that many are giving a sigh of releif about then leave, no one is holding you back, right? I recall many telling me the same thing when I asked a simply question, I was told to join a different site . I think it's quite nice in the community board now, besides for the remaining who advently still take part in what the rest were banned for. I appreciate everything TB is doing to make changes to the community and make it a more welcoming place for June mommies to be! Here is to change in our community

    WTF does advently mean?

    That's what I was thinking...

  • This content has been removed.
  • Lol, my posts keep getting deleted while the profanity laced, "eat a dick" GIFs remain. Bravo, Bump admins, way to clean shit up! @JAQ26‌ even got an apology out of me earlier, and that was also deleted. Alas...
  • This content has been removed.
  • You called me out for mocking people who had given me good advice. I apologized for acting like a juvenile and clarified that it was getting tiresome for regulars to exhibit the behavior they spent years mocking, and encouraged them to just walk away. Just read this thread in full and understand it a little better now. Still very tired of the "cunt" and "eat a dick" posts. But also find it amusing to have normal posts deleted while these other nonsense threads remain... @JAQ26‌
