Feeling down looking for advice- very low AMH at age 36

Hello all,

I am pretty new to this and hoping I can get some support. I was told my results from some initial bloodwork and I am not able to get in with my Dr until 3 weeks to discuss further. I had 4 tests done and here were my results:

FSH= 6,2
AMH= 0,195 ------> :(
TSH= 1.29
Prolactin = 12.2

Was told all was normal but AMH was "low" and meaning I am "less likely to get pregnant but not absolute" whatever that means in medical jargon. I spoke with a nurse and thats what she told me. She said she couldnt discuss further and I would need to see my dr but like I said I cant get in for 3 weeks so hoping someone here has some knowledge on what my chances/options could be at this point and if my outlook is good at all. I feel very discouraged and sad by everything I have been googling on this since I can't get any answers right now.

Is IVF really likely the only option at this point? I wonder if I could even get pregnant naturally. We have been trying for about a year now,

any success stories you know of with very low AMH?

Thank you for listening. It's a rough day over here.

    @Jess8791 welcome, I do not have any experience with low AMH but can tell you that anything can happen. Have you been trying naturally? Have you been charting and temping over the past year? Best of luck to you!

    Hi and welcome. I have very low AMH. My first number was .02 in September, just after stopping birth control, which may artificially lower your number. I was retested last month and came back at .05 . Woo hoo! Along with stopping bcps, I have also started taking a prenatal, Maca, Vit D, Vit C, CoQ10, EPO, Tumeric, Milk Thistle, fish oil and Royal Jelly/pollen/propolis. I have no other health problems and did lots of research on what may help in my situation.

    I was told with this low AMH IVF is not that great of an option as far as cost vs. odds. I am gearing up to do my first IUI this weekend. I was on oral meds this cycle and go in for an ultrasound on Friday to see how things are looking.  I will get my AMH tested again in a couple of months just to see, if I'm not KU first.

    If you are interested in supplements, do lots of research to figure out what is right for your particular situation.

    Good luck!

    *ticker warning* Just a quick reply as its the middle of the night. My FSH was 28 and AMH less than 0.03. I was doing medicated TI-s only. My ovaries were indeed completely asleep at first but seemed to wake up after several months of taking DHEA and CoQ10 in the form of Ubiquinol that absorbs better. And it worked. It is certainly possible. Good luck!

    Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the comments. I am taking it a lot harder than maybe I need to at this time. It just isn't the best news when you hear "very low" and "less chance".. all seem negative but  I need to look at the positive. @waterbaby318 I stopped BCP about a year ago.. not sure if that would still affect me, but maybe? I meet with my RE on Feb 4th.. I have a pelvic US today.. not sure what that will tell as I feel like the AMH # says a lot in itself. My hubby also is having his first semen analysis today. Sounds like they are just getting a bunch of info on us for now and then will provide a recommended next steps. I am hoping for the best and hope the best for you all as well!

    The BCP shouldn't be affecting your AMH at this point.  You should ask for an antral follicle count (AFC) on a CD3 ultrasound. That may give you a better picture of your success rates and options.
