Baby measuring 2 weeks behind

Today I had my appointment for my 26 week ultrasound. I am really upset. The baby is measuring 2 weeks behind the scheduled due date. Also, my amniotic fluid is low (about 5 cm). I will now be monitored weekly by US to check the growth of the baby. I don't know what to do, and I am so upset. Thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

This is so scary. What did your doctor say? Does the baby seem healthy otherwise? Are they going to do more testing to try and figure out what is going on. My first daughter measured small too it was a warning for larger things happening.

Please come to the other site and we would love to support you through this time. We aren't dicks, we promise. It's just a bad time here on TB.

Stay positive! Im no doctor but a friend of mine was told her baby was measuring way small and had many ultrasounds to monitor growth as well, she ended up having a perfectly healthy babe! Positive vibes sent your way!

I'm so sorry! I always assume if some full term babies are 5lbs at birth and healthy and some are 10 lbs at birth and healthy, wouldn't they be different sizes at 20 weeks too? I hope that is all it is! And that is all is well with amniotic fluid!

Hey there...what did your doctor say? At my 20 week ultrasound with my daughter, she measure 19 and the doctor was not concerned. I went overdue with her and they did an ultrasound at 40+ weeks just to check on things and she was measuring between 35-37 weeks depending on what part they were looking at. (Again, I was over 40 weeks pregnant at the time.)

I was SO scared, but they assured me she was fine (just smaller than average.) That was Friday. They induced me on Sunday and she was born on Monday evening weighing 5lbs 13oz. She was tiny, but perfectly healthy. My fil is an ob and he says "some babies weigh 5lbs, some weigh 10.....they're all healthy, just different."

I would ask more questions of your doctor and how he/she feels about it. I think its a great idea to have more frequent monitoring to check for things like IUGR, and I think I would also be more concerned about the low amniotic fluid.

Just wanted to share a story of a baby "running behind" who turned out to be perfectly fine. My daughter is now almost 2 and she's the tallest in her class and totally average in terms of weight--to say she caught up is an understatement.
