Selling a House Advice

Hoping those that have been there can share some advice of what they've learned! We're putting the house on the market sometime next month - it'll be our first time selling :). 

One specific question - how much were your realtor fees? I've heard 6% is average, which is what our realtor wants to charge. Should I be calling around hoping for a better deal, or is that what you all paid?

    You should always call around. I would say 2.5-3% is more average unless a realtor is representing both the buyer and the seller and often realtors will negotiate. I would not list with a realtor without interviewing several.

    I want to say realtor fees were 6% when we bought our house but they were split by the selling and buying realtors.

    We are currently selling houses in two different states and both agents requested 6%. But as far as I know it is negotiable so it would be worth it just to look around.

    We just sold and bought in the fall. We paid 6% on the house we sold which was split between both agents. That is normal especially for an experienced agent. Our house sold in 2 days so I gladly paid 6%.
