Has anyone heard of this ? I went yestersay and the tech told me about it apparently you can guess gender "97% accuracy " based of the side of your body the placenta attaches . Right side is boy and left side is girl. Well mine was on the right side so he said possibly a boy ... not to sure. Any mommy's have this with previous pregnancys? Was it correct ? I also Googled and read some stuff on it just bc I had never heard that until yesterday

I mentioned this "Ramzi method" to my MW during our first consult just to get her take on it, and for 1) she had never even heard of it, and 2) after my brief explanation of his "research study" she literally laughed and said that's a bunch of BS, but hey, at least he has a 50% chance of being right! Also, you can't get a good look of exactly WHERE the placenta is until right around 16-20 weeks, which would be gender reveal time anyway!! lol, such malarkey.

I have heard of this! I've also read the following fool-proof methods of achieving a 50% correct answer on the sex:

Chinese Calendar
Baking soda test (mix with your AM urine and it may or may not fizz to predict either a boy or girl - jury out on which is which)
Pendulum necklace test - swing a necklace over the belly. If it circles, it's a girl, if it swings in a line, it's a boy!!!
Carrying high - it's a girl!! Low?? It's a boy!!
Drano test - Mix with urine. Green = girl, blue = boy
Craving sweets?? GIRL!! Craving salt?? BOY!!
Partner gaining weight?? GIRL!!!
Morning sickness?? GIRL!! NO MS?? BOY!!
No Morning sickness?? GIRL!! Morning sickness?? BOY!

I'm sure there's more, and I'm sure the results will all vary. In the end, you will end up waiting for doctor's confirmation, or you'll find out on the little one's birthday.

@Runningmommy519 Nope, most of them love me. I get hugs and high fives all over town from them. They are also high schoolers.
That might be the reason for being able to handle being told to search or use ALL of their resources.

If this (or the nub theory, or the baking soda theory, or the red cabbage theory) was an accurate method of determining sex, wouldn't doctors use them?? If my OB starts holding a washer tied to a string over my belly, I'm running out of that place. Wait until your anatomy scan, or accept that any of these "theories" have a 50% chance of being right/wrong.

If you googled it as your initial post suggests, then you knew exactly why it was a stupid question. Also, confusing sex and gender is kind of a big deal to some people. Posters were simply trying to educate you - there was no need to be hostile about that. It is unfortunately a common mistake, and the more people that understand AND ACCEPT the difference, the better our world is.

Despite what your mother told you, there are such things as stupid questions. Questions that have been asked and answered multiple times fall into the category.

The doctor that performed this research over YEARS time span had been 97% accurate with all of his predictions. It's called the Ramzi method. Also, if you read correctly, what I SAID was that the older BUMP post I came across posted their results from their own experience using the method & about 98% of THEIR predictions were correct. If YOU choose not to participate or "like" the idea, fine. It's a free country no one is forcing it on you. I'm sharing MY opinion to her question. I didn't ask to be challenged.. & fiy reading is fundamental. I didn't state what you say I did. Heck, U/S aren't even 100% accurate. You women need a life..it's JUST FOR FUN!

I get its JUST FOR FUN. the thing is, even when you quoted yourself there was no mention of the 'BUMP' group reporting their findings. Just 'older posts' and their findings.
Also just because you can read an article doesn't make it a good article. Source checking is important. Also having peer reviewed work is paramount to being able to publish with any credibility.
In a 'quick' Google search, the first 8 pages show nothing close to what would be accepted as a credible source by anyone who has standards of research.

I have heard, read and been told that the Chinese prediction chart is always right. So if the Ramzi method is always right, what am I having? The Chinese predictor says boy, but the Ramzi method says girl.

BTW-I don't believe in either of these methods. I have a 50% chance of a boy and a 50% chance of a girl. Just wanted to put it out there.

1, I have a degree in research, maybe just an associates, but it is still a degree.
2, Its not just an opinion. There are facts about scientific publishing that are FACTS no matter how ignorant you may be.
I didn't say that I have an opinion about the Ramzi Method. I was merely pointing out that while you said you did 'research' you have yet to provide proof that your research and sources are credible, or that you actually understand that Scientific Publishing has rules, and unless you dug up some seriously old resources, you didn't follow these rules in your 'research'.

If it's any consolation, I have pondered this wives tale as well. Although they are probably all wrong/contradictory I plan to make a list and try them all for my baby book just for fun, your only a first time mom once!
