I didn't feel Sick when I drank a cup last week but the taste was so horrible I couldn't even finish it. Regardless of the fact it is supposed to be good for whatever. I would rather not drink it at all.
Maybe try the "third trimester tea". Not sure what brand it is but I got it at BRU. It has the red raspberry leaf and some other stuff. It tastes really good in my opinion but it does kickstart braxton hicks contractions for me.
@Alyllyra raspberry leaf tea is supposed to help your body to go into labor - i'd imagine that is why she's drinking it
I know about the supposed effect of raspberry tea. I just question the reason for drinking it. First, since OPs post is in Feb15 I'm guessing she still has some weeks to go before EDD (though I may be wrong about this - I'm mobile so I can't see siggys). Second, why make yourself more uncomfortable than you already are by drinking something that doesn't agree with you?
I drink it a couple times a day with honey. I like the taste and it doesn't nauseated me at all. There are other teas that have different taste but still contain raspberry leaf like, Third Trimester tea by Earth Mama Angel Baby or Pregnancy Tea by Traditional Medicinals. Both can be found at natural food stores or in the natural foods section of a store like Fred Meyers or Frys. From my understanding raspberry leaf tea doesn't make your body go into labor but it is supposed to help tone your uterus to make your contractions more effective when you do go into labor and hopefully make for a shorter labor. It's back and forth on whether it actually works. I know some women who drank it that went past their due date and had 18+hour labors while others went early and had 7 hour labors. So really who knows. I like tea in general and it helps me get my water intake so I drink it, if it works for me great if not it's whatever.
If you are to drink it/take tablets the most optimal time to start it is around 32 weeks. If you start it towards the end of your pregnancy (35 weeks and on) it isn't likely to do anything at all.
@sarabellar um I thought her question was like "why would you drink something that doesn't taste good" just simplified the answer. Clearly offended you but luckily you were way better at an explanation.....

It was. I'm guessing the dispute was because you said "it helps your body go into labor," which could come across as confusing. It won't induce labor. It might help strengthen the uterus.

This exactly. I've had the Third Trimester Tea (Earth Mama Angel Baby), ordered from Amazon. I'm not really a holistic/ crunch granola type, but I read up on it and it said it might help to tone your uterus (not induce labor), so I figured I'd give it a go. I've never had any sort of reaction to it- nausea, Braxton Hicks, etc.- but I have had those previously in unrelated circumstances.
@sarabeller Helping the body - my bad, next time I will make sure to respond in the extremely scientific manner in which you did. Especially with the ever helpful "um no" and "ding ding ding". Spot on! Smh

There is a big difference between something that helps tone your uterine muscles and something that induces labor. It's good to have a clarification between the two...
Why drink tea that makes you feel nauseated? Just drink something else. This question is weird...
Obviously I haven't had anymore it's just a fucking question about tea. I was wondering if an upset stomach is a side affect or if it's just me. I tried twice to drink some and both times it made me sick so OBVIOUSLY I didn't drink anymore and when ladies post questions I think are "weird" I don't make them feel bad. I just don't answer the question.
I haven't had problems, but the kind I have also has raspberries in it to mask the taste of the leaves. It could be the brand you're drinking doesn't agree with you.
If you want to stop drinking it, then stop. Maybe it's helpful for toning your uterine muscles, and maybe it's really just snake oil. It's not supposed to bring on labor.

Whoa. Easy there. From your post, "when I drink it," it wasn't obvious you weren't still drinking it. In real life do you immediately curse at anyone from whom you get a response you don't like? Since you're telling people how they should respond to others on here, let me tell you how I would've handled it. Be an adult. Send that person a private message. If I had an issue with someone, I'd pull them aside rather than making a scene.
Andplusalso, if you'd just Googled "raspberry leaf tea nausea," you'd have found it's commonly used for nausea relief. So yes, I think it's safe to say your body is weird.

I'm sorry, how exactly did my counter-question make you "feel bad"? I think you are confusing me with your raspberry leaf tea.

ETA: I also haven't had any nausea from it. If I did, I probably wouldn't drink it.
