My son will be 5 months January 28th. I was wondering how often would it be ok to give him a bath? Right now I do just once a week because I don't want to dry his skin out.
I didn't feel as nervous with my LO since I've always dealt with eczema for myself and am used to it. I just bathe him when he needs it, usually every other day since he gets sweaty and his hair gets really oily (he's 3 months btw) and clean with head-to-toe wipes to freshen up in between. Each baby is different though so you'll just have to find what works for you. Just try to keep baths warm, not hot and apply plenty of lotion while his skin is still damp. Dry patches can come up regardless of how often you wash. When I notice myself or LO getting them I find it easy just to keep a pump bottle of lotion on the changing table and apply a little with every diaper change. That habit just makes it easy for me to remember.
We bathe DD every night because it seems to help mellow her out before bedtime. Also her hair always starts to look greasy at the end of the day. She has some eczema but it's not bad and Aquaphor seems to help it a lot. We used to do 1-2x a week but now that she has better head control it's easier to bathe her every night.
i give my baby a bath twice a day. one in the morning around 10am and one at night before bedtime 7:00pm, his pediatrician said it was ok since he was a month old. his skin was very dry since he was born like most babies. just had to change his soap (dove baby for sensitive skin) and always always use a baby lotion after bath (aveno baby) his skin is beautiful and baby is always clean and smelling nice.
Our little guy is almost 5 months and we still only do once a week. He doesn't really get dirty.
We use a warm washcloth to wipe his face, hands, pits, feet and gobble every day, though. My friends told me, you really don't need to step them up until they start getting mobile.
