I am not a regular poster on this group, but I am an April 2014 mom and I am in need of some mommy advice!
My son was a baby who was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks old. At about 5 months old he started waking a couple times a night. Not necessarily to eat but because he had lost his binki or had wedged him self into the corner of his crib, and needed help changing position. I am perfectly fine getting up with him if he is hungry! But at this point I am up at least 6 times a night to give him his binki, reposition, or pat him back to sleep. Sometimes it only takes 30 seconds to get him back to sleep sometimes 20 minutes.
What's with the restless sleeping? What can I do? Any advice would be helpful! I'll try anything!
Re: Help!!! I'm Desperate!
The more you soothe and comfort for MOTN wake ups, the more you reinforce that unwanted behavior. You will have to teach self soothing skills somehow... might as well be now.
I'm of the opinion that pacis need to be ditched after 12 months anyway, so I'd take this opportunity now to do it a bit early. This is the exact time when we did that with my older kiddo, and nights got much easier then.
