Favorite Prenatals?

What is everyone's favorite prenatal vitamin? Or what is your opinion on the best prenatal?

Re: Favorite Prenatals?

  • I use the Target Up & Up brand. I've also used NatureMade.

  • Im taking brainstrong prenatal. Theres no food dye which I found in a lot of the prenatal vitamins and its easy on the tummy!
  • I'm doing gummies right now as well. So much easier for me to stomach than the rx vits I took before.

  • I like Garden of Life prenatals - they're raw, so no added binders/colors, and they're easy on your stomach.

Rainbow Light has a natural PNV if you wanted to go that route.

I'm taking these now. They were a little tough on my tummy for the first two days but after that just fine.

  • I use Nature Made with DHA.
  • I used PreNexa while pregnant. It had a mild stool softener added and although it was a honker of a pill it tasted pretty good.

  • The Target Up&Up were the only ones that didn't make me sick!
  • I got a $10 off check/coupon for similac prenatals. They are only $12 so I got them for $2. I like them so far. They don't upset my stomach.
  • Rainbow Light Prenatal One or Prenatal Petite. I think they are the same except for the size of the tablets (Petite is smaller tablets so you have to take 3 a day to get the full dose). They don't upset my stomach. The only other prenatal I've tried is a prescription one (forgot the name) from my first prenatal visit. I had to see the PA for the first visit and she really wanted me to try this prescription brand with Quatrefolic. That one made me a little nauseous but not too bad. When I started seeing the OB, the OB said I don't need a prescription PNV if I prefer to buy over the counter.

  • I'm also taking Targets Up&Up kind with DHA. I like them as they don't make me sick.

  • Garden of Life Raw Prenatals and Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA.
  • Does anyone take a DHA supplement that is Gluten Free and they know the source of the Gelatin? I am having trouble finding pork free vitamins.  I found a prenatal multivitamin, but it doesn't contain DHA.
  • I take the One-A-Day with DHA as well.

I take the Vitamin Code Raw prenatals - they are plant based and natural so no synthetic crap.  I also take the Nordic Naturals DHA fish oil.
This exactly! It's been very easy on my stomach.
  • I also take Target's Up&Up.  Smoother going down than my old prescibed ones.

  • I like Rainbow Light the best. While I love gummies, most don't have iron and for someone who is already deficient (me lol), that's not a good thing!
  • Nature Made Multi. It gives me headaches and some stomach issues though. I don't want to waste the bottle, so I'll switch to something else when they're gone.

Not meaning to thread-hijack, but is it weird to take prenatals when you're not sure when you want to start TTC? We were originally thinking January but now we're not sure... I figured continuing to take a vitamin couldn't really hurt.

  • I take VitaFusion gummies as they are easier to swallow. I also take Fish oil supplements as my doctor wanted me to make sure I'm getting enough DHA before I'm pregnant. She gave a trick for Fish oil capsules. Freeze them and take at night before bed. It keeps the nasty fish oil burpies away!
  • I use a store brand sour gummy one, I can't swallow pills well so these are awesome! I even use a dissolving folic acid.
  • Does anyone else find that DHA gives them raging headaches?  I have tried a number of brands but haven't been successful in finding one that doesn't bother me.  My PCP unhelpfully told me to "just stop taking them".
  • Have all of the ones you've tried been from fish sources? You may want to try one from Plant sources instead and see if that works for you.

  • Last time I was pregnant I used Ultra Mega Green Prenatal from GNC. It's a whole food multivitamin that includes folic acid, calcium, and easy to digest iron. It was a lifesaver. It was one of the only kinds that I could keep down.

  • We are TTC #4 and I just started taking the Rainbow Light Prenatal One vitamins a few weeks ago. I really like them!
  • First of all, OP, GO BRONCOS!!!

    Now that's taken care of...

My OB assured me that most women's multivitamins have the necessary vitamins required, including 400% of daily folate. (More than than isn't really scientifically related to better birth outcomes.) So I just take a women's multi from CVS that has low iron (to avoid constipation) and 400% folate. He did suggest taking a fish oil supplement because the Omega 3's are really important for fetal development. Getting your daily 5-7 of fruit and veggies is even more important than taking the supplement - food is better than pills!

  • I've been taking the CVS gummy vitamins because I'm a pansy pill taker and they were pretty darn cheap. They taste like candy and haven't upset my stomach at all.
  • I use the up and up gummies from Target or the Nature Made gummies. They both taste amazing! I also take a calcium pregnancy gummy as well, due to history of breaking bones
  • I use the prenatal vitamins from GNC. I take them at night with food and they don't upset my stomach.
  • I used rainbow + Nordic DHA the first time around. This time I'm using promise prenatal. I used stage 3 after my son was born and I was breastfeeding, and I jusyed started using stage 1 bc we are going to start trying for number 2 in April.
  • I started on Spring Valley's prenatal gummies. I can't swallow pills, so the gummie was the way to go - flavor is good, and it's got all the required stuff, so no need for extra pills.

I love the Honest Co. Prenatal One-A-Days and their DHA. They are all gluten free.

  • Price chopper brand. Much less expensive and all the same important amounts of the main ingredients. I read not to take gummed because the quality isn't is good but I have a hard time believing that. I compared then and they listed almost exactly the same...
