Addison or Adalyn? I love Adalyn, but is this an "old" name? I think it's pretty. Middle name is Caroline, as in "Sweeeet Caaaroline! Dun, Dun, Dun..." (A family name).
I thought about that too but I don't like the rhyming of Adeline Caroline I pulled it off of a baby top 100 names, but you're right, it's not super common (At least where I'm from). Thanks for the suggestion!
I considered Adalynn for a while, but most here seemed to side eye it because it is a made up spelling apparently. For us, we passed on it because of the NN Addie and our last name just sounded way to cutsie.
Addison is a boys name (any name with son in it means "son of") and Adaline doesn't work with Caroline. Adele or Adelaide would be better.
I don't think all -son names have to be boy names, regardless of the meaning of son. Look at Allison. It started as a boy name but I believe has firmly moved into girl territory after the 80s. Addison seems to have gone that way as well. However, I did meet a little girl named Mason and that kind of turned my stomach a little. Glad we didn't name our son Mason after all (it was a contender for a while there). But names do evolve. Who knows, perhaps Neveah will be like some awesome name our grandchildren want to use for it's 'history." (again, stomach churns).
OP, it's a difficult call but I think I'd go with Addison.
That's not how it works.
OP, I don't like either, and not sure why you're insistent on them being one or the other. Adeline is the only option IMO. Maybe Adeline Carolyn
I have two kids, so believe me when I say that Addison/Madison/Madeline/etc. is so overdone right now that I roll my eyes every time I hear of another one. Like every other girl on the playground responds to Addie or Maddie, so why add another one? Not to mention, Addison is a masculine name and I actually know a teenage boy whose parents named him Addison, you know, right before everyone spontaneously decided it was a girl name somehow. So if I have to pick, Adalyn, but I don't like the spelling and I don't think either three-syllable name ending in N is really ideal with Caroline as MN. It sounds like the start of a limerick. I'd far rather have Caroline as the FN and something I'm not sick of hearing as the MN, or vice versa.

Ummm...no. Allison is a diminutive of Alice, which is all female. Addison means son of Adam. Very different. Adeline is a much better option but I might go cross-eyed if I see another random Y in a trendy name. Addies are everywhere too.

TTC since September 2012
Caroline Adeline.
I agree with pp that Adelaide would probably work better with Caroline
